Alastair Lewis Veins

Alastair Lewis was appointed as a Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon in 2007, and subsequently became an Honorary Lecturer in Surgery at Queens University, Belfast and member of the Court of Examiners at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. For the last two years he has concentrated exclusively on treating varicose veins and is Northern Irelands only full time phlebologist Mr Lewis now continues to work part-time with the NHS delivering over 300 keyhole procedures and 400 outpatient assessments per year. Privately, he has performed over 300 cosmetic and therapeutic interventions in both the North and South of Ireland for the last 5 years. He is Fellow of the College of Phlebology, a member of the British Association of Sclerotherapists and has been regularly in demand as an expert speaker at international veins meetings since 2009. He has built a large experience of laser and radiofrequency ablation, non-surgical management for complex or recurrent veins, foam sclerotherapy of varicose veins and microsclerotherapy for thread and reticular veins on the legs, face and other body areas.

Colin Weir qualified from Queen's University, Belfast in 1984 and made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1988, receiving an ad eundem Fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. He is a member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland. After periods of general surgical training and research work as a postgraduate student he completed his specialist training in Vascular Surgery. He was appointed consultant General and Vascular Surgeon to the Southern Trust in 1996 where he has a specialist interest in treating arterial and venous disease He has over 20 years experience in the NHS and independent private sector, specialising in using the latest technology and techniques in the management of Varicose Veins. He has been at the forefront of microsclerotherapy treatment in Northern Ireland
