After my BMI hit 40 and with diabetes giving me trouble, I decided to go for the gastric bypass at CeMar Surgery after a video consultation with Dr. Rosales. They offered an all-inclusive package that really simplified everything for me. I just had to buy a plane ticket, and everything from the medical tests and the hospital stay to the hotel was included in my package, which was great because I didn’t have to move around different places. They even picked me up from the airport! A big plus was the bilingual staff, since my Spanish is a bit rusty. After the surgery, they provided me with a super comfortable private room in the hospital, which by the way is very beautiful, and then they arranged for my stay at the Quartz Hotel, which is within the same complex as the hospital, the room was spacious and simply amazing. The focus of our surgeon is to make obese patients enjoy long term health and well-being, and raise the patient's level of self-esteem as the weight loss progresses.  Procedures performed include the gastric lap band,  vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, gastric balloon procedure, gastric plication surgery and revision surgery for patients who have undergone unsuccessful procedures before, including pouch reduction and anastomosis (bypass to bypass revision).

Every Surgery package includes:  * Ground transportation from San Diego* Hospital stay (2-4 nights at Hospital Angeles, depending on the procedure performed)  * Pre-op lab work, chest xray and EKG  * Post Op Barium Swallow or Leak Test * Surgical and medical fees (includes anesthesiologist, cardiologist, nutritionist support for 12 months, and psychological evaluations)

VERTICAL SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY: The surgeon removes approximately 70-80 percent of the stomach laparoscopically and with the help of staplers so that the stomach takes the shape of a tube or “sleeve”, in such a way that the patient can continue eating, but in much smaller amount. In addition of being restrictive this procedure has seen that the hormone that regulates the appetite, the ghrelin, diminishes, causing the patient to not be hungry for at least a year from surgery. It has an average excess weight loss at 12 months of 66%, very similar to the bypass not being that invasive.

Gastric BalloonThe Gastric Balloon is a simple gastric surgery device, fitted inside the stomach, to create short term and rapid weight loss. It is a soft, expandable, silicone balloon that is placed inside the stomach via a camera that enters through the mouth and into the stomach. Once inserted in the stomach, the empty balloon is filled with a sterile saline solution. A gastric balloon aims to reduce feelings of hunger and help you feel fuller for longer after eating only small meals. Also known as an intra gastric balloon, this type of weight loss treatment can help you lose weight without invasive surgery. Gastric balloons are inserted under sedation in a procedure which takes 20 to 30 minutes. It is performed in an endoscopic room, not an operating room. The surgeon is assisted by anesthesiologist, surgical nurses, assistant surgeon, just as if the having the procedure done in an operating room. It is a relatively minor procedure, but it may take your stomach a little while to get used to the balloon. You will usually be able to go home the same day, or the day after the balloon has been inserted. Duration times includes placement of the implant (gastric balloon), and recovery time. This is an OUTPATIENT procedure. This procedure is NOT RECOMMENDED for patients who suffer of gastro-esophageal reflux (acid reflux), severe gastritis or gastric ulcer.
