Eyelid surgery
One of the main focalpoints on an individual’s face is their eyes. Many people believe that you cantell allot about somebody by simply looking at their eyes. For example, howtired, stressed or drained the person is. Many people will also instantly come toconclusions about a person’s approximate age by simply looking at their eyes.Unfortunately, determining a person’s age by looking at their eyes is usuallyquite inaccurate. A person with droopy, sagging, wrinkled tissue surroundingtheir eyes may appear to be significantly older than their actual age alongwith appearing to be tired and stressed. In contrast to that, a person withtight, wrinkle free, fresh looking, natural skin surrounding their eyes willgenerally appear to be younger than their actual age whilst also appearing tobe more energised. For many women andmen, the appearance of their eyes will play a huge role in determining howcomfortable or pleased they are with their self image. Unfortunately, many of these effects can lead to afurther deterioration in the appearance of the surrounding area of the eyes. Insome cases, sagging of the skin above and directly to the side of the eyes canalso lead to impaired peripheral vision. For others, the appearance which theywant to portray goes much further than simply wanting to please themselves. Many professional individuals rely on their appearance to assist them withtheir careers, particularly in areas such as sales and marketing. Blepharoplasty is one of the most commonly performed cosmeticprocedures and can make a striking difference to a patient’s appearance. Duringblepharoplasty, the focus is on facilitating the individual patients’ needs andwants, as no two patients are the same. As a result of this, you can restassured that the final result of your procedure is one which has been tailoredaround exactly what you want.

EYELIDCORRECTION (BLEPHAROPLASTY) The eyes are the mirror of your face. Excessskin and folds on the upper eyelids or baggy eyelids give the impression ofpermanent fatigue. Upper and/or lower eyelid surgery can return that opensparkling regard, that you once knew. This sort of procedure isactually in the “hit parade” of the 3 most frequently carried outplastic surgery operations. Whathappens?Upper eyelidsDuring the operation, the surgeon removes the excess skin which is draggingyour eyelids down. This is done through a fine incision in your natural crease, which leaves an almost invisible scar. Lower eyelidsBags under the eyes are often caused by pockets of fat and are usuallyaccompanied by an excess of skin. The operation involves removing the fat bagsand excess skin through an incision made just under the eyelashes or atthe inner side of the eyelid, which means that there is no visiblescar.  AnestheticMost of the time a local anesthetic  issufficient. Although, it is possible to sedate a nervous patient, and ifnecessary put them completely to sleep. RecoveryAfter surgery, you will need to rest forapproximately one hour before returning to the hotel. You will not be able todrive immediately following surgery. Some medication will be prescribed(Ibuprofen and paracetamol) which you will be able to take in case of pain. Theday following surgery, you can expect your eyes to be swollen and watery, inaddition your vision may be blurred and reduced. Bruising should subside aftera week or so (for upper eyelids), but can take slightly longer when both upperand lower eyelids have been operated on. It is advisable to wear sunglasses when you go outside, and indoors ice-packsand gel masks can help to sooth the eyes and reduce swelling (although notscientifically proven). Your scars will be slightly

Eyelid surgery
The presence of loose, sagging skin (hooding), lines around the eyes (crows feet) and bulging fat under the eyes (bags) – characterise ageing of the eyes. The aim of surgery is to remove sagging skin, lines and bags thus restoring a more youthful, fresh appearance.Age Group:Who is suitable for cosmetic eyelid surgery ? The procedure can be carried out at any age but most candidates are over thirty.Anaesthetic:Most procedures can be carried out under sedation and local anaesthesia. General anaesthesia is optional but rarely necessary. The Procedure:• .• The incisions: in the upper eyelid a surgical incision is made in the eyelid crease and in the lower eyelid an incision is made close to the eyelashes. The incisions frequently must extend out into the crow’s feet / laughter lines area around the eye.• Redundant skin and fat and occasionally muscle are removed.• Bags under the eyes are caused by protruding fat. During surgery this fat is returned to the peri-orbital fat from where it came originally. The supporting layer (orbital septum) is repaired. This is equivalent to repairing a hernia.• Usually the supporting ligament of the lower eyelid requires tightening (canthopexy) to prevent post operative drooping of the eyelid (ectropion).• On completion of the procedure sutures are inserted above and below the eye and steri-strips are applied.Hospitalisation:Blepharoplasty is carried out as a day case procedures. The procedure takes between one and a half to two hours. Overnight admission is optional but rarely necessary.Recovery and Aftercare:The level of discomfort is slight. The eyelids particularly the lower eyelid tend to bruise easily. Vision is unaffected. Light pain relief may be taken. Lubrication of the eye with ointment especially at night is very important. Arnica may also be used for bruising. The sutures are removed after about four days. Bruising usually takes two to three weeks to resolve.
