Due to complications that were compounded by expensive dentistry & maxillofacial surgery over the past 12+ years, I had been living in constant pain. I'm self employed and ineligible for Dental; a couple years back I had spent a large sum of money on dental treatment for my wife and me; it was outlandish. Dr. Baker came recommended by a close friend, so when the pain became unbearable, I made an appointment. I was very reluctant to venture into TJ. However, it was nothing like I expected.
Dr. Baker and her staff were able to resolve the pain I had been suffering with for years. Thanks to her excellent work and post treatment care, the area is now pain-free. I never would have imagined this to be possible. Given her dedication and post-op phone calls, free follow-ups, and consultations with colleagues re complications of my jaw, I really think Dr. B cares more about her patients' well-being and the administration of proper health care than about financial incentives.
My second procedure was a root canal performed by their specialist. It was without a doubt the best root canal procedure I've had. The dentist was very skilled and thorough. I felt no post-procedure pain -- a first for me. The crown looks aesthetically perfect; my wife couldn't tell which tooth had the new crown. Every visit to Dr. Baker's has been marked by professionalism, courtesy and dependability. This clinic is the only place I plan on going for dental anything.
The office sets up the logistics that get you from the pedestrian border crossing to Dr. B's office and back to the US border entry line, so I've never felt left in the lurch. This was my biggest concern before the first visit. I'm very lucky to have found Dr. B, and I cannot thank her & her staff enough for the wonderful medical care.

Complex Root Canal

Dr. Baker is hands-down the best dentist on the planet. In fact, she's a miracle worker! (keep reading!) I'd been putting off some dental work for years, not knowing which dentist to trust after moving to California. Plus, my career has me in the public eye (I've had my own TV show, etc.) so my teeth are very important! Luckily an incredibly "meticulous" friend recommended Dr. Baker. For over 10+ years I have suffered with unexplained sinus infections + debilitating fevers/brain fog, but Dr. Baker immediately saw something unusual around an old root canal x-ray that raised suspicion. Mind you, when I lived in NY I would go to high-end holistic specialists who never caught this, even though I complained about this tooth every year for over a decade! Dr. Baker's team found a drill bit had been left inside one of the roots, causing the pain + infections all these years! Dr. Baker and her staff are, hands-down, the best I've seen. I've gotten several other procedures done there too: 2 more root canals, all of my mercury fillings removed, teeth whitening, old cavities replaced, etc. not only getting better service, but also costing me a small fraction of what it would have cost me in the States. I'll admit, I was nervous about going to Tijuana for treatments, but I was shocked by how easy the entire process was. The location is actually so easy to get to, and Dr. Baker's driver picked me up right across the boarder - always on time, and with a smile. It actually couldn't be more convenient, safe and pleasant! And her entire staff are all so friendly -- I was there so many times last year, they are all starting to become like family. I will continue to go to Dr. Baker forever. She's an angel!

Dr. Baker is hands-down the BEST dentist on the planet - In fact, she's a MIRACLE WORKER!
For well over 10+ years I have suffered with unexplained sinus infections and debilitating fevers and brain fog. But Dr. Baker immediately saw something unusual around an old root canal, and recommended redoing the entire process to see if the mysterious infection would disappear. Mind you, when I lived in NY I would go to high-end holistic specialists who NEVER caught this, even though I complained about this tooth every year for over a decade. Dr. Baker's root canal specialist was SO patient and skilled that he spent over 8 hours working on the tooth -- only to find that a drill bit had been left inside one of the roots, causing the pain and infections. Dr. Baker and this root canal specialst are the BEST I've seen!!!!! On top of that, I've gotten several other procedures done there: 2 more root canals, all of my mercury fillings removed, teeth whitening, old cavities replaced, etc. -- not only getting BETTER service, but also costing me a small fraction of what it would have cost me in the states.
I'll admit, I was nervous about going to Tijuana for treatments, simply because I can be a bit of a weenie when it comes to traveling to new places by myself. But a very "meticulous" friend had gotten AMAZING work done there, so I trusted her judgement.
But I was SHOCKED by how easy the entire process was. The location is actually SO easy to get to, and Dr. Baker's driver picked me up right across the boarder - always on time, and with a smile. It actually couldn't be more convenient! And her entire staff are all SO friendly -- I was there so many times last year, they were starting to become like family...
I will continue to go to Dr. Baker forever -- she's an ANGEL!!!!

Dr Baker is very personable and works hard to make sure you get great results. Also considering I have had over 6 dentist in my life, Dr Baker is the only one who has been able to numb my mouth properly so that it was a pain-free visit. Most dentist do not know how to numb my mouth. She is the great at it.

Broken arch
Were you pleased with the treatment?
I reviewed this clinic shortly after my initial visits and on many levels I was pleased. That was a little less than a year ago. Last week my lower arch broke into two pieces and appears to have had defective material or workmanship. Also the upper partial broke although not as badly. When I contacted Dr. Baker, I was told I could get a new arch at full price. I will probably get another arch but will seek out some sort of guarantee.

I had 2 root canals and a bridge replacement done and they did an excellent job! What would have costed me around $4500.00 in California at my dentist costs me $1580 here. The courtesy taxi shuttle from the border to the office is a very nice perk and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I was quoted and paid about $1700 total for my work done. This included a root canal, 3 crowns/build-ups, and some cavity work. I was impressed by the professionalism of the entire staff. Dr. Bakers' chair side manner is unlike any dentist I've ever seen. She is friendly, warm, and comforting. She is up front about the work needed, rather than the mechanic style dentistry that I've experienced.
I have been telling everyone I know to take the drive down to see her, because it is so worth it.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Baker and her wonderful helper, Daniela. Dr. Baker is very efficient, accommodating, and uses the best & up-to-date materials. We had 6 days there and my husband got all of his teeth extracted and immediate dentures put in. Six of his teeth were fused to the bone so she had an Oral Surgeon come in and remove them. The cost was so much less than he would have paid here in Canada. I had six crowns replaced, one veneer replaced and 2 metal posts replaced with fibreglass posts. I like the fact that my new crowns have no metal in them (so now no more of the grey lines at the top of the crown after any gum recession) and they cost 1/2 of the price I would have paid in Canada. Will we go back to here? Of course!

What a great experience! Although I have a lot of experience in Tijuana and Mexico this was my first time seeing a dentist down there. It went better than expected. Parking was easy and secure, staff was professional and helpful, facility was better than anything I've seen in San Diego, doctor was on time and most of all, i'm happy with the work she did. I had a cleaning, X-rays and 3 fillings done all on the same visit. I was in the chair for just under 2 hours and Dr. Baker did all of the work. I would recommend her to anyone i know. Only downside was she did not have the medical speed pass to avoid the border line. I was told they are working on getting them but didnt have them at the time. I think i paid about $180 for everything. Thanks Dr Baker.

This was my first visit to Tijuana for dental work. I picked Dr. Baker on whatclinic.com, based on the most positive reviews she had received. I needed a crown done for my tooth, and I was so impressed by the level of details Dr. Baker provided me, in order to make the right decision regarding the crown type that best suited my needs and budget. The cost was a fraction of what I would've paid in San Diego. Dr. Baker was extremely professional and meticulous through out the whole procedure. My dental experience was pain free during and after the operation. Dr. Baker far exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend her to all new patients who may consider going to Tijuana for dental work. Her office is located in a new office building, and the interior of her office was spacious, very clean, and nicely decorated. And, the operating area was equipped with the latest dental equipment. Her office staff was also very friendly, and they offer complimentary taxi rides to and from the US border.

Very pleased with Dr Shirley Baker. I found her from your website - I dont usually do things like that! I travelled to San Diego and stayed there and walked across the border. It was hassle free and easy. I found her staff helpful and friendly. She speaks excellent English - completely fluent I never had any concerns in this regard. We discussed the treatment plan and I was happy with her professional approach and thoroughness. The dental office was clean and smart.
I got 5 crowns and 5plus fillings for a fraction of what it was quoted to me in the US. And I am happy with the results - I got Empress ceramic Imax crowns, a full dental exam at the start and a deep cleaning at the end. Would I recommend Dr Baker? - absolutely. She was very generous with her time and committed to good results in the long run.

I couldn’t be happier with my teeth than I am now after having had extensive work done by Dr. Shirley Baker. Over the years both my upper and lower teeth had become severely crowded and unsightly. The dental work performed by Dr. Baker included three extractions, placing five crowns and one porcelain veneer on my upper jaw, and eight crowns on my lower jaw. Dr. Baker was professional and meticulous in her work and I always felt confident that she would do a great job.
I will definitely go to Dr. Baker for my dental needs in the future.

She did the cleaning and when finished i was if the tooth was next... OOOOOh to my surprise she said it was done.. Wait a minute when did that happened.. It was going soon smoothly I did not realize she had done it... I did not feel anything of a jerk out... What a job, well done. I rate her a "10" in all areas. I gave a little less for location, not because of the office itself or the part of town it was in, but simply because I have to commute all the way from Los Angeles. Her office is located in the safe business district and is very clean, modern and as welcoming as any dental office I've been to in the U.S.

Dr. Baker is a great person.

Dr. Baker is a great person. Her office is clean and has a great view from the lobby. It is in the business district of Tijuana. They send a taxi to pick you up at the border and the driver stays with you until you reach the office. I should have tipped the cab driver when we reached the office.
I had an impacted rear tooth and had to have a partial root canal. I will be returning for the full root canal soon. I also had a full mouth deep cleaning and will need a little better cleaning again. The first one was not done completely by my estimates.

I am currently being treated by Dr. Baker. I am very pleased with the service provided to date. The work they have completed so far include three root canals, two crowns, and one implant. Their pricing is not the least expensive, but my selection was based on the multiple positive reviews I read. They speak English, have a local phone number, and provide transportation.

It was bulky and misplaced so there was a cavity under it..she had to replace the crown to properly fix the cavity and I was soooo glad I decided to go ahead with it. I was very pleased with everything and what I was quoted was the final price. The prices were very reasonable. I was being quoted close to $2,000 in the US for a root canal and crown. When she told me the price I would pay for everything I booked an appointment and went down to her office the next day!

I would definitely recommend this clinic. When I got close to the Us border I contacted the office and they told me they would have someone meet me in 15 min on the other side of the border and drive me to the office at no additional fee. After wards they drove me back to the border. Which made this experience worry free and safe.

My 1st root canal done and it was the best dental experience. The only problem ...was me. I was really fidgety, sweaty, nervous, light headed.
No pain, got to wear movie goggles and then I hit the outlet stores when I got back.

The treatment was quick and easy, and they quoted us for $350, and then lowered it down to $300 (due to specific reasons). My wisdom teeth extraction went well, and I'll be sure to refer them to family and friends. Dr. Baker is great. She's a perfectionist and did excellent work for me. I had two crowns replaced in a short time (one cracked and one old discolored). She came in on a day that most places were closed (Dec 31) just to complete my work. I had two visits and she explained all the work to be done clearly.

6 crowns with bridges. 2 root canals, 2 extractions and cleaning for about $2,700. The equipments they use are pretty much the samething that you see in the states. Nice office in the nice business district neighborhood. The doctor doesn't have any assistants while they treat their patients but they get their job done right.
Because of all the bad medias and people talk about this city of Tijuana, some people think it's crazy to have their teeth fixed down there. Even if I have lots of extra money to spend on dentists in U.S., I would still go down there.
Thanks Dr. Shirley. I've never tried other dentists there but I'm sure you are one of the best in town.

The price was very resonable. I had a five bridge unit placement for $1500. It would of cost me a little over $5000 in the states. I also had several teeth that were cleaned out and filled and two crowns. The grand total for everything was $2800. I recived two seperate estimates in the states, for all the work needed and both times I recived an estimat of around $8000 to $10000 in total and told that I should put my money towards that investment. Dr. Baker did quality care with the same materials as used in the states. Also, pain control has always been an issue with me. Dr. Baker gave the medication just exactly where it was needed. From all the Dentist that I had in the states in comparison to this Dentist, this Dentist did a better job in keeping me pain free.
Would you recommend the clinic?
The Dentist, secretary and the cab driver (the cab driver drives people from the border and back), all spoke English. All were kind and courtious.
Would you return for further treatment?
I will return for treatment. It will cost me way less than in the states, you get quality care, the place is clean, and you get a ride from and to the border.

I would highly recommend Dr. Shirley Baker for any dental work you need
to have done!
Dr. Baker saw me, this past July 2007. I had three teeth capped,
my teeth cleaned and whitened at her TJ office. She is fluent in
English, her office is a professional office with sterilized equipment,
it is modern, and her staff is all very helpful. Entering in to TJ is
safe as is exiting by foot. As you walk across the border, if you are
on foot, she will have a car waiting for you at the McDonalds which
takes you to her dental office. When your appointment is over, you are
returned to McDonalds to exit Mexico back into San Diego.
Her prices are exactly what she tells you each service will be, nothing
is hidden and sprung on you later. Dr. Baker is warm, gracious, and very
talented. She makes sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
What I loved the most was being able to watch movies while the work went
on. She has some sort of eyeglasses, which you are able to see what
looks like big, screen version of the movie. When I did a big belly
laugh, they stopped work until I had simmered down and opened my mouth
wide again.
Not only did I see Dr. Baker, but also so did my 85-year-old Mother. She
had 8 teeth pulled, her teeth cleaned and upper and lower partials made
by Dr. Baker which we were able to get while we were down there and not
month or so later like we have happen here at home. Just to have Moms
eight teeth pulled here was going to be $1200 and the upper and lower
partials would have been an additional 1,800. It was not nearly that
price, and she was kind and gentle with my Mom, gave her antibiotics and
painkillers for her extensive work, so she could be more comfortable.
Dr. Baker then called each day after the procedures.

I am 64 - at least for the moment. I had a couple of root canals, posts and crowns done. I addition, I had implants. During the course of my treatment, I never had communication difficulties. Dr. Baker's English is great and so is the English of her staff. My procedures took the better part of five months. That's because it takes time for the implants to properly meld with the bone. I am very pleased with the work and service provided by Dr. Baker. I would not hesitate to go back to her again, although I currently don't require further work. I have no idea about your expectations and how particular you may or may not be. Mexico is a different environment from the desert. You'll probably see some equipment, like the lamp that they use to light up your mouth, with some flaking paint. However, everything I saw was properly sterilized and I felt very comfortable and not only do I have no complaints. I am pleased with the results and the service.

An average Root Canal in Mexico is $85.00 to $170.00 US I paid $300.00 US. An average Crown Is $95- $210 Us, I paid $300.00, then was hit with an Unexpected extra $200.00 for build up that was not initually discussed or agreed apon! costing me $800.00 US for a Root Canal and Porcilin Crown that should not have cost me more than $380.00 US together in Mexico!! that is $480.00 more than double the cost!!
