About Briercliffe Road Dental Practice

Briercliffe Road Dental Practice in Burnley, Lancashire has been established since 1996. We are a very friendly private dental practice, our dentist Mike Powell qualified at Guys Hospital in London in 1983 and has kept up to date since then with courses in the UK, Hong Kong and the USA in both general and cosmetic dentistry. He has also completed an MSc in Dental Implantology. Having just the one dentist means we can quickly build up a rapport with our clients and you are assured of always seeing the same dentist each visit. Mike is supported by a dedicated team of staff including a Hygiene Therapist who are here to look after you. We understand that some people are very nervous about dental visits,  Mike and his team work together to help nervous patients through their treatment gaining great satisfaction from doing so.

We understand that money is maybe tighter for everyone in this economic climate so we ensure that whatever treatment is proposed is explained very carefully, all the different options are offered and various payment options are provided. Please be careful shopping around on price as this often reflects the quality of the materials used and expertise of laboratory technicians. Cheap dental treatment is not good and doesn't last, good dentistry isn't cheap but we can promise that it will last a long time and look great. We are by no means the most expensive dental practice but can assure you that we use only the best materials and a top class dental laboratory.

We offer a Free Dental Consultation where you can get the chance to come and meet us and have a look around. We can discuss your requirements and you can read reviews from some of our existing clients as well as look at lots of before and after pictures if you would like to.

Biography:
I qualified at Guys Hospital, London in 1983 and started my career at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. Here I gained much experience in dealing with face and jaw injuries and carrying out dental operations such as removing wisdom teeth. I then worked at Newcastle Dental Hospital in a similar field and also in dental prosthetics (dentures). 
Before coming to Burnley in 1996 I was an associate in a practice in Dunstable for 10 years and I was also the Marks and Spencer dentist in Dunstable for 3 years. 
To ensure I keep up to date with new techniques I regularly attend courses in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. I also maintain close links with the Local Dental Committee and The Primary Care Trust. These both work towards standards for "Good Practice" for dental practices in East Lancashire. 
I have a special interest in Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implants and am just nearing completion of a Masters degree in Dental Implantology.

Biography:
Since qualifying from University of Liverpool I have been practising as a Dental Therapist/Dental Hygienist along side Mike, Helen & their team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff. 
As part of the clinical team I have built up a rapport with the patients I treat. I especially enjoy treating children, some of whom are very apprehensive as they undertake dental treatment, in some cases, for the first time. When they leave the surgery smiling, with balloon in hand, I feel a great sense of satisfaction. I feel privileged to be part of the Briercliffe Road team.

Biography:
I am Mike’s wife, a General Nurse and Midwife. When we bought the practice I only thought I was helping out, 16 years later, I think I am here to stay! I eventually did my Dental Nursing exams in 2001. 
I love my job, not so much the mounds of paperwork but the contact with the patients; some of them feel more like friends now. We have seen their children grow up, many of them cavity free which is so satisfying as I feel we really do make a difference. I particularly enjoy looking after our elderly patients.
