Biography:
Gillian, more often known as Jill, qualified as a Dental Surgeon from Trinity College, Dublin in 2008 and worked as a House Officer in both the Dublin Dental School and Hospital and the general hospital services in Dublin for 2 years.
She is experienced with and has great empathy for anxious dental patients, children and patients with special needs.
Jill has been involved in Continuous Professional Development since graduation and has recently obtained Membership to the Faculty of Dentistry in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She has been actively involved in audit and research and won the Irish Dental Council prize in 2010 for her audit regarding dental care for patients with Haemophilia in Ireland. This project also took her to Buenos Aires where it won awards on an international stage.
She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation in Trinity College, Dublin. Jill has established a sedation unit at The Dental Suite to help nervous patients overcome the barriers to dental care via the valuable adjuncts of oral, inhalation (“happy air”) sedation and intravenous techniques. Note all of these are forms of conscious sedation and the patient is not ‘put to sleep’.
Outside of dentistry, Jill is heavily involved with St. Vincent De Paul. Also, as President of the Sunshine Fund, a Special Works Conference with SVP, she works hard to provide children from disadvantaged areas in Ireland with a much needed summer holiday by the seaside.
