What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are anti-aging products that are injected into the skin of patients to add volume. They are injected to make skin that is sagging or has become wrinkled because of age look smooth and plump. They are also called injectable facial fillers, injectable cosmetic fillers or soft tissue fillers.  They are made of hyaluronic acid taken from animals or from the fat of the patient. It takes five minutes to an hour to perform dermal filler procedures.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers last from six months to five years. They are not permanent and are absorbed by the skin over time.

Is the administration of Dermal Fillers painful?

Local anaesthetic is applied to the skin before dermal filler injections are administered. Patients will feel the pain of the injection during the procedure and after the anaesthetic wears off, for a few days. Some fillers contain an analgesic substance called lidocaine. These fillers are less painful than other fillers.

When can I travel by air after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should wait one week after getting dermal fillers injected before travelling by air. Air travel can aggravate the swelling and bruising that may occur after dermal fillers are injected.

How long does recovery take after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Recovery from dermal filler injections may take seven to fourteen days. Recovery depends on each individual patient.

What after care is required after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol until any swelling has subsided. They should avoid touching their face for at least one day. They should avoid going in direct sunlight for at least two days. They should drink plenty of water after the treatment. They should not get any beauty treatments done on their face for at least a week. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month. They should avoid blood thinning medications for a few weeks.  Patients should perform facial exercises for a few hours after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to Dermal Fillers?

Collagen stimulation therapy, some herbal medicines or lotions and micro-current assisted skin toning are some alternatives to injecting dermal fillers.

Dermal Fillers
What are they and how do they work? During our natural ageing process our skin loses its underlying supportive structure as well as its soft and firm appearance. This is due to breakdown of collagen and loss of hydration under the skin. The loss of hydration is a direct result of hyaluronic acid which is a natural substance found in the body. Each molecule of hyaluronic acid has the capability of holding 1000 times its weight in water which makes it a suitable product for hydrating our skin. As we age the natural production of hyaluronic acid diminishes reducing the ability to hold moisture which is required to hydrate the skin. Dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid are injected under the skin to try to compensate for the ones which have been lost through the ageing process. This gel-like substance mimics natural hyaluronic acid, drawing in water to restore lost volume. This cosmetically enhances the features of the face creating a more youthful look. Dermal fillers are also ideal for softening deep lines.
Treatment for Wrinkles
Anti-wrinkle treatment is one of many brands in the UK used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by causing temporary paralysis of the underlying muscles. It is produced from the neurotoxin that is derived from, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non-toxic. Anti-wrinkle treatment works by inhibiting the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine thereby reducing the contraction of the muscles that cause undesired effects like frown lines.
Non-Surgical Nose Job
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty can also be referred to as various other names. The most common ones are: Nose tip surgery No-knife Nose Job 3-Point Rhino Lunchtime Nose Job Your nose is a prominent feature of your face and can really affect your self-confidence if you are not happy with it. Surgical nose jobs can be very painful and expensive and aren't an option for those who do not want to go under the knife. Our non-surgical dermal filler treatment can be used to re-shape, straighten or lift the tip of the nose and is perfect for those who have busy life schedules. The procedure only takes 15-20 minutes to perform, hence the name 'Lunchtime Nose Job'.

Dermal Fillers from £195
These lines are often associated with aging as they are usually a result of volume loss in the mid-face. As we age, we lose fat in our face and our facial bones shrink-that combined with a reduction in skin integrity, i.e. reduced collagen and elastin, causes the face to sag. This creates lines and folds in the lower face. However, some people may present with these lines or folds as a result of weight loss or even sleeping habits. Before this procedure, it is often necessary to examine the rest of the face before treating these lines or folds directly as this can give the illusion of an over-treated ‘heavy’ lower face. Dermal fillers are then injected to replace lost volume- softening lines and folds and giving a fresher, more youthful look. The brand of Dermal Fillers we use lasts around 9-12 months.
Lip Augmentation from £150
During this procedure, the lips are numbed using a topical anesthetic- minimizing discomfort for the client considerably. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are then injected to give volume and definition-smoothing out the lips and creating a perfect pout. Swelling and redness can be expected and usually subside in a few days. Any bruising can take up to 2 weeks to fully resolve. If you are prone to cold sores, this procedure could trigger an outbreak. Any changes in colour, or pain or if you have any other concerns get in touch with us ASAP so we can advise you. Lip fillers usually last around 9 – 12 months although each client is different and lifestyle factors can play a role in the duration of the fillers.
Non-Surgical Nose Job from £250
For this procedure, the filler is used to improve the shape of the nose and although technically volume is added (because you are adding filler) the nose itself often looks smaller because it is more aesthetically pleasing-a bit like an optical illusion. This is a great alternative to surgery as it is safer, with less downtime, and a fraction of the price. The brand of filler we use lasts around 12 months.
