Gastric by-pass surgery is a method that not only limits the intake of food but also reduces the absorption of food. It is still the most common type of combined surgeries.

In this operation, the upper part of the stomach is reduced to about 30-50 cc. In the second stage, a portion of the small intestine is brought into this small gastric pouch and then joined together. After this operation, the patient is kept under observation in the hospital for about 3 days and drug treatment is organized on the 3rd day and the patient leaves hospital to continue his daily life with the support of a dietician.

Gastric sleeve surgery is a very effective method in the fight against obesity. This process works by reducing the stomach volume and removing the hormone ghrelin, which causes an increase in appetite. As the stomach volume gets smaller, the person is sated with smaller portions and as the person’s appetite decreases, the person becomes a healthier individual by losing weight in a short time without suffering.

Gastric sleeve surgery is performed with a closed method, that is without making large incisions in the abdominal region. The closed method allows the person to stand up and walk shortly after the surgery and perform daily activities by oneself. The operation takes about an hour.
