Perform -Spire Liverpool Hospital

Joined Perform Liverpool in January 2012 from the prestigious hospital of Guys and St Thomas’s in London where he specialised as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist. Prior to this Ian specialised in Occupational Health, developing and delivering musculoskeletal programmes successful in the management of work place related health disorders. Ian has extensive experience in the treatment of professional sports people, previously working with Middlesbrough Football Club. Ian is passionate about making the Perform service a truly elite level service which can be accessed by all.

Qualified as a Doctor in Liverpool in 1990. He has been actively involved in Sports Medicine across a variety of elite sports since. In 2000 he became accredited as a Specialist in Sports Medicine and has since worked at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and will be working as a senior Doctor at the London 2012 Olympics. Between 2004 and 2010 he worked as Doctor to the National Academy of the Rugby Football Union. This role included test match responsibility for England U21s. He was involved in the England Senior team’s preparation for the Rugby World Cup 2007. He currently works at Liverpool Football Club and for the English Institute of Sport in Manchester.
