About Be Pain Free

My name is John and I trained for five years at the world-famous British School of Osteopathy where I was awarded a Master’s in Osteopathy.

I gained a wealth of experience treating sports people with muscle strains, office and construction workers with neck and back pain and the elderly with age-related conditions.

I hold a diploma in sports massage from the London School of sports massage which I include in my treatments along with dry needling if necessary. I also like to include a special relaxation technique during my treatments which helps people destress and improve their mood.

Treating sports people comes naturally to me. Having come from a strong sporting background I represented Longford in GAA at county level from schoolboy up to the inter-county senior panel.

I also played Basketball at the National league level. I like to relax by meditating and like to practice what I preach by keeping a good diet and maintaining fitness levels through walking and swimming.

I am passionate about my profession and treat a range of issues including back pain, neck pain, shoulder hip and knee pain.

Helping patients return to what they enjoy doing is my goal and I thoroughly enjoy the process of guiding and advising each patient along their journey to recovery.

Osteopathy is the gold standard when it comes to relieving pain.

I look forward to seeing you at our clinic soon.

“ My aim is to help relieve your aches and pains through a caring and supportive approach that is both non-judgemental and long-lasting. It is important to teach every patient that healthcare is more about self-care”.

I use a combination of Osteopathy and if necessary, sports massage and dry needling.

In addition, we are able to provide:

  • Diagnosis and treatment/management possibilities for complex health problems
  • Osteopathic care during pregnancy
  • Biomechanical/postural assessment and rehabilitation advice for long-term sports injuries and to improve performance
  • Visceral osteopathy for a wide range of conditions in adults and children
  • Ergonomic advice for your workstation
  • Referral for counselling

Stephen McDermott

Biography:

Stephen entered the British School of Osteopathy London in 2009 on a four year masters course. The BSO is the largest and oldest osteopathic school in the UK, founded in 1915 to provide undergraduate and postgraduate osteopathy training. Patients with specific needs were treated during the 1000 hours of clinical practice including:

  • Children and babies
  • HIV and AIDS
  • Homelessness Outreach Clinic
  • Sports Injuries
  • Older people
  • Pregnant women

Following graduation Stephen joined the 'Little John centre' practice in Walkinstown Dublin working under the guidance of the experienced Chris Campbell. It was here his love for the classical approach to Osteopathy began prompting him to develop his skills further completing a one year course with the Institute of Classical Osteopathy which involved working in their London clinic.

Stephen also holds an ITEC Diploma in Sports massage, a certificate in Acupuncture/Dry needling, completed Reiki level 1 and 2 with the London College of Spirituality and has a keen interest in treating autism using a comprehensive treatment approach tailored to each child.

'My main goal is to get you back on your feet and enjoying life again without feeling held back or shackled by your pain. I also like to consider my patients stress levels, diet and lifestyle which are important contributors to pain. I love treating people from all walks of life and aim to educate my patients so that they can make simple changes to improve their quality of life.'
