In 1979, Dr Kashnikov graduated from Novosibirsk State Medical Institute. After graduating, he worked as a resident at the adults` unit of ophthalmology of the Regional Clinical Hospital in Novosibirsk. From 1983 till 1985, he did his residency at the Department of Ophthalmology of Novokuznetsk Institution for Advanced Medical Training. From 1985 to 1989, Dr Kashnikov occupied the position of the Chief of the Ophthalmology Unit at the Regional Clinical Hospital in Novosibirsk.In 1989, he acomplished distance postgraduate studies at Moscow Helmholtz Research Institute of Eye Diseases. From 1989 to 1990, he worked as an ophthalmologist at the MNTK “Eye Microsurgery” (Novosibirsk branch). From 1990 to 1998, he was an ophthalmologist at the eye department of Novosibirsk Station Railroad Clinical Hospital.
In 2001, he defended his MD thesis on “Complex rehabilitation of patients with eye traumas in emergency situations”. He was Board Certified and got the Highest Category in 1993. Since 1998 he has been Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at NovosibirskExcimer Eye Clinic.
The doctor has 5 monographs and more than 130 published scientific studies, certificated inventions and innovation proposals. He has the following published monographs: “Fundus Changes Associated With Contusion” (2000); “The Emergency Eye Traumas’ in cooperation with Professor R.A. Gundorova (2002). In 2005, in association with a team of co-authors Dr Kashnikov created a clinical atlas “Eye Traumas”. In March 2007, a monograph “Contusion Eye Traumas” was published followed by the book “Eye Traumas” in 2007.
Dr Kashnikov participated in annual NIDEK meetings (Mexico, 1998; Japan, 1999); the Scientific Conference on “The Basics of Phacoemulsification” in Saint-Petersburg (1999); International Conferences ECO-MED-POL (1999, 2000); The Second Russian Symposium on Refraction Surgery in Moscow (November, 2000); The Seventh Russian Congress of Ophthalmology (May, 2000); Jubilee Conference on the 100th anniversary of Moscow Research Institute of Eye Diseases named after Helmholtz. Dr Kashnikov is a regular participant of annual international congresses of cataract and refractive surgeons.
