The Roberts-Harry Dental Clinic

Dai Roberts-Harry is one of the UK’s foremost orthodontists with a wealth of clinical experience. He graduated in dentistry from Kings College, London in 1978 and following a three year postgraduate training post at Guy’s Hospital London, obtained his specialist qualifications in orthodontics. He gained a Diploma in Orthodontics and a Masters Degree in 1988 followed by a Membership in Orthodontics in 1989. He was also awarded Fellowships from the Royal Colleges of Glasgow, Edinburgh and England.

In 1993 he was appointed Consultant Orthodontist at the Leeds Dental Institute and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds. In 1994 he became Head of the Department of Orthodontics and in 2001 Clinical Director for the Northern and Yorkshire Cleft Lip and Palate Service. In 2002 he was elected President of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland.

He is a reviewer for the European Journal of Orthodontics, the British Journal of Orthodontics, the Angle Orthodontist, the Australian Orthodontic Journal and the British Dental Journal. He was postgraduate Dental Tutor for North Yorkshire, responsible for organising the postgraduate education, research and audit carried out by dentists. He is a founder member of the Institute of Expert Witnesses and is regularly called upon for his opinion in medico-legal cases.

He is a member of the British Dental Association, British Orthodontics Society and an elected fellow of the International Association of Orthodontists.

Nicky Price is a registered specialist in orthodontics on the General Dental Council Specialist list.

Nicky undertook her dental training at the University College, London, qualifying in 1990. After gaining a fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, she then embarked on specialist postgraduate orthodontic training at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London. She qualified in 1998 gaining a membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. During her time at the Eastman she also gained a masters degree in Orthodontics, awarded in 1997.

For research carried out during this degree she was awarded a distinction and was subsequently awarded the Houston Memorial prize by the European Orthodontic Society.

Nicky completed further training in Yorkshire to become a consultant orthodontist in 2001, gaining a fellowship in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons. In 2002 Nicky was appointed Locum Consultant in Orthodontics at the Mayday Hospital, Croydon, whilst also working in Specialist Orthodontic practice in central London.

Nicky is a current member of the British and European Orthodontic Societies. She has published papers in professional and scientific journals and has been awarded prizes for presentations.

Liz Roberts-Harry qualified from Kings College, London in 1980. She gained experience and developed her clinical skills in general dental practice in the South East and Bristol as an associate and then as a Practice Principal prior to moving to Leeds in 1993.

In 1996, she completed a Masters degree in Restorative Dentistry at the Leeds Dental Institute. This covered all aspects of restoring teeth from essential treatment for badly broken, decayed or periodontally (gum) diseased teeth to obtaining the cosmetically perfect smiles. Her main area of expertise was in periodontics for which she gained a place on the Specialist List of the General Dental Council. Her research has been published in the Journal of Periodontics and the Journal of Dentistry and presented both in the UK and internationally.

James Spencer qualified as a dentist from the University of Bristol in 1987. He went on to undertake his specialist Orthodontic Training at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London. He obtained his orthodontic qualifications in 1996 and at this time was awarded the Gold Medal for the outstanding candidate in his specialty examinations by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He then completed further training in preparation to becoming a consultant orthodontist.

James is an NHS consultant at Pinderfields General Hospital and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Leeds Dental Institute. He is currently Associate Dental Dean at the Yorkshire Deanery and previously was the Training Programme Director for Orthodontics in Yorkshire.

He is secretary of the Consultant Orthodontists Group of the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) and previously was a member of the BOS Conference Committee and Developments and Standards Committee. For 2011-2012 he was Chairman of the Conference and Meetings Committee of the BOS. His main area of interest is in treating severe orthodontic problems including those involving jaw surgery and is a member of the specialist Sleep Apnoea Clinic at Pinderfields Hospital.

He lectures widely in the UK and teaches on the Leeds University Orthodontic Postgraduate Programme.
