What are Metal Braces?

Metal Braces are orthodontic appliances made of stainless steel or titanium. They are suitable for patients of all ages. They are the cheapest among braces and are considered the most effective. Once fitted, metal braces exert pressure on the tooth to move it to the correct position.  Orthodontists adjust the wires of metal braces at every appointment to make sure that the tooth moves correctly. The orthodontist will polish the teeth and paint the front surfaces with glue. The metal brackets will be pasted onto the teeth. A curing light is focused to fix the brackets. The orthodontist will thread a wire through the brackets and then place wires around the brackets to hold them in place.  

What care is required after fitting Metal Braces?

Patients should practice proper dental hygiene and brush and floss their teeth correctly. Patients should use fluoride toothpaste. They should not eat hard or chewy food items that will damage their braces. Patients should attend their orthodontist appointments to ensure the correct fianl position of the teeth is achieved.

I did a free consultation for braces. Dr. Park who studied at NYU is perfectly fluent in English and her staff is amazing. Next, I did an examination with X-rays and photographs to assess my overcrowding. (150,000 won approx. 150 USD). I've decided at 38 years old to get braces and it's mostly due to how comfortable I felt in her state of the art clinic. Everything is spotless and comfortable. Prices were explained to me in great detail, I have embarked on a 2 to 3-year treatment with ceramic and metal braces. Including retainer and 3 screws, that's will be necessary (to slightly widen the jaw), as well as monthly adjustments, the total cost will be USD 5800 paid in instalments of ten months. (Thereafter, whether 2 or 3 years of treatment there will be no other costs). It's just the beginning but my situation is starting to look up already. So far, great.

After having lived in the U.S.A, UK and Europe most of my life, I had a lot of anxiety about needing a very difficult procedure done here in South Korea on one of my molars. I went to four dentists- the first told me the tooth had to be extracted. The second and third required lengthy treatments. I finally went to Oaks Dental for the fourth consultation. I was a little skeptical after seeing the title: No. 1 Dental Clinic in Korea. I see this in many restaurants and shops throughout Korea. However, it is absolutely true! From the moment I first entered, to the actual surgery itself, I was given THE BEST professional treatment: instructions in English- every single step explained, and I experienced NO PAIN. The truth is that Dr. Bae is the BEST surgeon I have ever encountered, and his staff were of the highest quality as well! As a team they are the best of the best! It took one painless session, and one week later I returned back (from Busan where I live) for the cap to be bonded on the saved molar. And now I am finally back to normal, and I have Oaks Dental Clinic to thank! I was so lucky to have met Dr. Bae and his team!
