Before returning to his hometown of Monterrey, Dr. Manuel Sanmiguel had studied and practiced cosmetic surgery in the United States.
Dr. Sanmiguel started his medical studies at the University of Nuevo Leon near Monterrey, considered the educational capital of Mexico. While there, he specialized in cosmetic surgery at the University Hospital.
Immediately after graduation, he traveled to the United States. He attended medical school at University of Alabama, expanding his knowledge of medical procedures and safety protocols.
Next, he completed a fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. While there, he worked with Dr. Ralph Milliard Jr. — the father of plastic surgery in the United States. Under Millard’s direction, he mastered the artistry and precision of plastic surgery.
With a strong recommendation from this plastic surgery legend, Dr. Sanmiguel went on to practice in Los Angeles, California. There, Dr. Sanmiguel perfected his technique of performing traditional procedures while studying the latest treatments and technology. He worked closely with Dr. Steven Hoefflin of UCLA. Dr. Sanmiguel collaborated on cosmetic surgeries in California’s most affluent areas, including Beverly Hills.
Soon thereafter, Dr. Sanmiguel returned to Monterrey, Mexico, where he practiced medicine at the San Francisco Medical Center. In 2000, he founded Sanmiguel Plastic Surgery.
