Doctor Athanasios Skouras

Review I had an open rhinoplasty with Dr Skouras in Athens and found the whole experience to be rather poor. Firstly their communication skills are very bad and they take ages to respond to emails. Unfortunately this relaxed attitude to life didn't extend to the consultation, where the aim seemed to be to get me out the door as quickly as possible. The whole thing was rushed and their was a terrible urgency that made me feel very uncomfortable. They were really trying to sell me the nose job even though I had already decided on it on the strength of the before and after photos. Yes, those photos looked very appealing online but there are so few and when you get to the office you are just shown the same ones again. Anyway, it was made clear that I should trust the good doctor and place myself in his hands. Before the surgery I had a very wide nose with large nostrils, and guess what, I still do. A few days after the surgery it became clear that he had just given me a profile job; removing a hump and performing a very slight lift of the tip. My main bugbear (the monstrous width of my nose) was completely ignored. I will also add that the lifted tip has since slumped back down and I have developed a lot of swelling above the tip which looks horrible. If you must use this surgeon be very specific in what you want (probably a good rule of thumb). He isn't a great artist and I feel that he botched my nose. The only silver lining here is that the whole business part of the affair was so disorganised that I only ended up paying half of the EUR 4000 they were asking for. They just never asked for the rest of it. And they won't get it either as it's going towards revision surgery with a specialist.Private, UK, 24 Dec 12
