What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial screws made of titanium or zirconium oxide that connect the jawbone and a dental restoration like a crown or denture. They are also called ‘endosseous’ implants or fixtures. They are an artificial tooth root. Once implanted, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone like part of the body. Recovery time after a dental implant procedure may take four to six weeks or up to 12 weeks for some patients. Patients can travel one day after the insertion of a single dental implant. They should meet the dental surgeon to get a certification of being fit to travel before embarking on their journey.

This is the best Dentist I have ever seen, I came to him as my dentist cannot fit implants, I was wary as they were offering discount at the time but I am so pleased I did as being so scared of dentists from the past he put my mind at ease, I have just had one implant fitted with a second being prepared and I am over the moon with his speed and manner. Each time a tooth was removed I have had no pain and no need for the painkillers, my sister had just had a tooth removed and is still in pain a week later. I was seen today by Mary Hatton. Why did I worry so much? Mary was brilliant putting me at ease totally and together with her assistant carried out an extraction and 2 fillings. Mary was so gentle, kind and professional explaining all the time what she was doing. An amazing person. I have been going to The Maltings Practice for over 40 years and have always been satisfied with the work I have received on my teeth.
