About Abi Hendra Counselling Cardiff
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist with over 13 years’ clinical experience supporting adults with a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, including anxiety, trauma, complex trauma, depression, attachment wounds, shame, relationship difficulties, family issues and life transitions.
My therapeutic approach is relational, trauma-informed and somatic. This means I pay attention not only to thoughts and emotions, but also to the body, nervous system, attachment patterns and the ways past experiences can shape present-day relationships and coping strategies.
Alongside my core psychotherapy training, I have undertaken additional training in somatic and trauma-focused approaches, including Somatic Trauma Therapy, Brainspotting and TRE. My work is also informed by attachment theory, parts work, relational psychotherapy and nervous system regulation.
I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and have a particular interest in supporting Muslim clients, and those exploring issues around faith, culture, identity, relationships, intimacy, shame and belonging.
I currently work online with adults, offering a warm, steady and non-judgemental space to explore what feels difficult, painful or unresolved.
