It is really making a difference in my lifeJohn, Ireland, 04 05 17

I am seeing Mary weekly and have had 4 session so far. I was a bit anxious as I have not had counselling before. It was a pleasant surprise, she is very down to earth and understanding. I should have done this years ago. It is really making a difference in my life. I would highly recommend this counselor and her service.

It’s a big decision to come to counselling or psychotherapy . For some it is something they have beenconsidering for some time, while for others it’s an immediate decision inresponse to something that has come up suddenly in their life. Either way it canbe a stressful and anxious time. Knowing what to expect can make it alittle easier. Our first meeting will be an exploratory session. Thiswill allow you  to see what counselling is about and decide if it will bebeneficial for you to continue.  I will take some personal details anddiscuss confidentiality in the counselling relationship. We will move on tolook at your life and examine what has brought you to counselling at thistime.  We will also look at what you want to achieve from therapy. At the end of this session it is your decision whetherto proceed further. If  you decide yes  I would normally contract for 4 - 6 sessions after which we would review where we are. If I think your needs will be best met elsewhere Iwill offer a referral.  Therapy may involve either short term counselling orlonger term psychotherapy. This decision rests with you and what you want toachieve from the counselling process.  While I am qualified in the use of psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioral approaches I mainly work humanistically, using elements of the other models where appropriate.

So approachable and kind.Rachel, Ireland, 07 01 16

I was very apprehensive, as it was my first time going to counselling, but Laura was so approachable and kind. I have found our sessions to be really helpful and would highly recommend her as a therapist. I liked Laura's website because she came across as warm and understanding. Also, the clinic is really accessible as it is in the city center. I also love Laura's treatment room; it's a very relaxing space.

Giving me my life back free of smokingRose, Ireland, 03 11 20

On the 6th of October 2020, I had treatment for stopping Smoking. I am 54 years old and honestly, I was smoking since 5th class in a national school. I wanted to stop. I had tried tablets, vaping, patches, chewing gum no success. So I signed up for treatment with Cormac it’s the best present I could give myself. I have not smoked. I have no horrible cravings. As fast as I think of them it flies out of my mind again. I have the belief now that I am free from the poison that was killing me bit by bit every day through smoking. I can never Thank Cormac enough for showing me the road and giving me my life back free of smoking.

It has made a huge difference to my life and general happinessOrla, Ireland, 17 04 18

After a few years of mild depression, I began taking prescribed medication. Having come off the tablets I was determined to find a way to help myself as did not want to be on medication long term. A friend had suggested counselling as a solution. I was sceptical but decided to give it a try. Having read Brian’s good reviews I emailed him to make an appointment. It was the best decision I have ever made as now understand what causes my depression and have learnt simple coping skills (over 6 sessions) that actually work. I’m just sorry I didn’t seek this treatment earlier. It has made a huge difference to my life and general happiness. Brian is a very experienced therapist and conducts his sessions in a very safe and professional environment.

All the content has somehow helped me know myself betterCarolina, Brazil, 18 09 19

I've known her online work for a few months, and all the content has somehow helped me know myself better and the talks and subjects brought were valuable to initiate them with my therapist and guided my therapy sessions. The content is very didactic, and the written material, super well done, which indicates the same qualities on the writer. The only reason that kept me from knowing her in person is an oceanic distance.

The counselling session takes 50 minutes at an agreed day and time each week.  The duration of counselling sessions can vary for each individual, where sessions can range from a number of weeks or months to longer term therapy.   At all times the individual has the right to end their therapy however, ideally this is discussed in advance of the ending to ensure the counselling relationship comes to a successful finish for both parties. The first session explores the motiviation and needs which have brought the individual to therapy along with discussing any goals or expectations from the therapeutic relationship.  The therapist will also explain the counselling process to include the agreement of a fixed time and day for each seesion. The fees, confidentiality and the cancellation policy are also discussed during this session.
