Counselling
Counselling is on a one to one basis and it differs from psychotherapy in duration. Counselling is short term, focusing on the clients current personal difficulties and sessions tend to be once a week for fifty minutes. Psychotherapy is for those who wish to understand their current distress through a deeper investigation. Therefore there is no way to predict how long a client may attend and sessions may continue for a few weeks, months or a number of years.
Psychotherapist Consultation
All forms of psychological suffering are addressed. These include: Anxiety, panic-disorders, depression, chronic pain, bi-polar disorder bereavement, bulimia, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress, addiction, sexuality and paranoid schizophrenia. Treatment provides the time and space to speak about oneself beyond a diagnosis and to speak about what matters most in a non-judgemental and safe environment. Low rates are available for students, those who are in financial difficulty and in other certain circumstances. Therefore there are no fixed rates. All rates are negotiated in the first consultation.

Psychoanalysis is a praxis which is based on the acceptance of the unconscious mind and an exploration of its manifestation in our daily lives. Together the analyst and the analysand explore how unconscious wishes and desires impact on our choices and decisions in life. Accepting the reality of the unconscious mind awakens our awareness that unconscious desire is the ultimate driving force in our lives.

Malou Acupuncture Counselling is a friendly, welcoming acupuncture practice in Dublin providing treatments for a variety of health conditions and promoting patient's general wellbeing. It is run by Malou Wang, a practitioner with over 20 years experience in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Dublin and Shanghai. Having worked and trained in Chinese and Irish hospitals, Malou ensures a balance between Eastern and Western medicine in her practice. Through almost 2 decades of acupuncture practice, I have always been curious about psyche (Mind) and somatic (Body) interconnection. After 4 years of studying at Dublin Business School, I have been awarded a bachelor degree BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy. These studies have enhanced my empathetic understanding of feelings of myself and others. When Western medicine and philosophy meets Eastern, it allows Mind, Body and Spirit to emerge into the ‘ONE’. Malou’s specialities are: Emotional conditions – Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Panic Attacks, InsomniaCancer careGynaecology  – Infertility, Pregnancy, Inducing Labour, Breech Babies, Menstrual and Menopausal ProblemsPain relief – Headaches, Migraines, Sciatica, Low Back Pain, Neck Pain, WhiplashElderly care – Physical and Emotional Conditions

I could see the improvement in my own behaviour after a few sessionsAlbert, Ireland, 24 04 19

Aidan Lakes provided an excellent service from start to end. I was referred to Aidan through my work EAP program. I felt really nervous at the beginning since I was visiting a different provider for a long time before I met him. My life was a complete mess. The issues I had were: Separation, Court Hearing, Child Custody plus a second break up on the top of all. I arrived at Aidan clinic a few days after "The worst day of my life", Aidan was very easy to chat to and supported me until I was able to stand on my feet again. I could see the improvement in my own behaviour after a few sessions. I would recomend his services.

Shelly Flanagan Psychotherapy Services - Shelly Flanagan

Shelly Flanagan Psychotherapy Services

37 Wexford st, Dublin 2, Dublin 2, 2
Shelly Flanagan Couples Counselling and Psychotherapy Services.   Relationship Counselling is a process which offers a non-judgmental and confidential space in which couples can take some time to explore and understand their relationship issues from a deeper perspective. Relationship Counselling is recommended for couples that are experiencing significant disruption and problems and are experiencing a breakdown in communication or periods of anger and conflict, when, despite their best efforts, it seems difficult if not impossible to feel a sense of connection in the relationship. This can lead to a strong sense of hopelessness, loneliness and frustration, as both partners do their best to cope with the situation. Often attempts to sort it out and renew the bond both partners are longing for, lead to an escalation of misunderstandings, resentments, arguments and further hurts, which drive the couple even further away from each other and into a spiral of hopelessness and alienation from the person they yearn to feel closest to. I work with couples using the EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) model of relationship therapy, developed by Dr Sue Johnson. EFT is a short-term (8-20 sessions) structured psychotherapy approach to working with individuals, couples and families. Research studies find that most couples move from distress to recovery, and 9 out of 10 couples show significant improvements afterward. Counselling is a process which offers a non- judgemental and confidential space in which the client can take some time to explore and understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours relating to issues that are troubling them. Psychotherapy can offer help to those struggling to cope with either current pressures or childhood issues that have not yet been resolved and are affecting the clients’ present life. It can help you to clarify what you want from life, achieve greater self acceptance, increase self awareness and engage more fully in life. The sessions are usually on a weekly basis and the work can be either long or short term depending on the needs and preference of the client.

Relationship Couples Counselling is recommended for couples (married or otherwise) that  are experiencing a breakdown in communication or periods of anger and conflict, when, despite their best efforts, it seems difficult if not impossible to feel a sense of connection in the relationship. This can lead to a strong sense of hopelessness, loneliness and frustration within the relationship, as both partners do their best to cope with the situation.
