- Martin qualified from Westminster Hospital, London in 1978. Initially he was interested in a career in Intensive Care and spent the early part of his training doing jobs relating to anaesthetics; although these might not at first sight have an obvious link into general practice, he has found many of the insights gained to be valuable (e.g. ENT and plastic surgery). Although he only joined us at Minster Health in 2001, he has worked as a GP based at Monkgate Health Centre in York since 1988.Martin's medical interests include respiratory problems, minor surgery, male sexual dysfunction and drug addiction.Outside medicine Martin has a particular interest in education. He has been a GP trainer ( teaching young doctors specialising in general practice) for over 10 years, as well as acting as a supervisor to new GP trainers in the York region. He is also one of the team of GP appraisers for SYPCT.Martin's latest project is to become a tutor to Nurse Practioners at both Leeds Metropolitan and Huddersfield Universities.Martin works actively in the field of drug addiction, where he is a qualified GP with special interest.(GPwSI) in the Compass drug Addiction Service based in Selby He is involved in teaching the skills needed for this particular discipline to other doctors, nurses and pharmacists, lecturing on the special diploma course run by the Royal College of General Practioners in London.He also travels to London on a monthly basis to attend the 'claims committee' of the Medical Protection Society. He acts as an expert witness for the society - but only in the topics relating to General Practice!

Mike qualified from St Mary's Medical School, London, in 1978; he has been a partner in the practice since 1983.He has been a GP trainer since 1990 and has also been involved in providing clinical support for FY2 (newly qualified) doctors. In addition he provides educational supervision to new GP trainers.His partnership responsibilities include IT, he founded the York branch of the EMIS user group.He has additional interests in mental health (being approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act) and is a GP with Special Interest in Substance Misuse, he has acted as a mentor for the RCGP certificate in addiction studies.He is a clinical teaching fellow at Hull and York Medical School, and is involved in the annual appraisal of local colleagues.In 2003 he completed a certificate in Primary Care Education at Leeds university to support and complement his interest in adult learning. He is also an HSE Approved Medical Examiner of Divers and a referee for the UK Sports Dive Commitee.

Dr Pauline Bolter MBBS DRCOG

Pauline qualified in 1985 from the Royal Free Hospital. She worked from 1992 to 1996 for Christian Outreach, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in a health programme in a refugee camp in Northern Sudan, working mostly with Eritrean and Ethiopian refugees - partly medical work and partly programme management. On return to the UK, Pauline did a retainer scheme and then locums in GP before starting as a partner at Minster Health in April 1998. Pauline undertakes much of the gynaecology workload in the practice and is involved in the NSF mental health work within the practice. In the future, Pauline would like to be involved in travel medicine and the possibility of doing some work with ethnic minorities in our community.

Dr Fiona Forsythe LRCP MRCS MBBS

Fiona qualified from Westminster Medical School in 1978. She completed her GP training posts in and around London and on the south coast. She spent a year working in general practice in Saskatchewan,Canada in 1984 before returning to the UK to work as a clinical assistant in elderly medicine and in family planning for 3 years. She became a job sharing GP principal in Haslemere,Surrey for 10 years where she was a school medical officer at a local girl's boarding school,provided medical care for the Ockenden Venture Refugees and along with her partners,ran the local Minor Injuries Unit and a medical and post operative surgical ward at the adjoining hospital.She moved back up to her native Yorkshire in 2000 where she was a GP principal in Goole before moving to Minster Health in 2002. Her main interests are diabetes,women's health and IUD fittings.

I trained as a general nurse at Cambridge, Addemsbrooks Hospital.After working as a Staff Nurse for a year I then trained in Midwifery at Norwich.I moved to York in 1979 to practice Midwifery for 6 months but ended up staying and working as a Midwifery sister until 1989.In 1990 I became a Pracice Nurse and in 1998 worked as a part time Practice Nurse and Practice Manager at differing surgeries.In 2003 I was offered a full time post at Minster Health working as a Practice / Clinical Manager.In 2004 I successfully completed my Extended Nurse Prescribing course .In 2005 I starting studying for my Masters degree at Huddersfield University; by early 2007 I will be working as an independent nurse practitioner I feel very privileged that I am able to work both as a Manager and a Nurse.
