  3261820
Job Title:
  General Practitioner
Biography:
Dr Bolam qualified at Liverpool University in 1987. She then undertook further training in Liverpool to become a GP and has experience in obstetrics and gynaecology (DRCOG 1990), paediatrics (DCH 1991), and accident and emergency. She passed MRCGP with distinction in 1991. From 1992 to 1996 she worked abroad, initially training primary health care workers in Ethiopia and Nepal and then doing research looking at the effects of health education in Kathmandu, Nepal. While abroad she contributed to a book about healthy travel for children. In 1997-98 she worked as a GP assistant/academic at St George's Medical School. She is interested in all aspects of medicine, and likes to provide high quality care for her patients. She likes to involve patients in the decision making. As she has a young family she works part time and is usually in the practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. She is happy to deal with problems and questions over the telephone, messages can be left at reception and she will call back. She encourages patients to come to the surgery, where better care can be given but will do home visits in case of medical necessity. Emergency problems can always be dealt with by the duty doctor.
