Natascia Papaikonomou Clinical Psychologist

Natascia Papaikonomou is a clinical psychologist who has been in Private Practice since 2000. She qualified in 1999 and has worked at Tara in the adult ward with patients suffering from severe mental disorders. She has also worked at the Natalspruit Hospital in Katlehong with children from impoverished communities dealing with trauma, sexual abuse, social difficulties, etc. During her work there she implemented an art therapy programme for children in conjunction with the local artists. After qualifying she worked at the Coronation Hospital for women and children. Sexual abuse and alcohol and substance abuse were prevalent problems in the area amongst the children and their families. I now enjoy working with pre-teens, adolescents, adults and couples. My approach is tailored to each individual’s needs integrating different complementary modalities. I enjoy interacting with each client and exploring different ways of finding a suitable solution. I also work at Viewpoint Recovery Centre in Boksburg with recovering substance abusers and alcoholics. The therapeutic process provides a comfortable and supportive environment where the client can share their problems. Ultimately the process of therapy is to empower individuals and assist them in discovering or rediscovering their own strengths and resources. It can be a rewarding and fulfilling journey of self discovery.
