About Inspirit Psychology Sutherland

Dr Geoff Lyons is exceptional as he comes having a foundation in complementary treatments to psychology. His studies contain many issues including using relaxation and meditation as well as the role of spirituality, outside of conventional psychology.

Inspirit Psychology provides couples and individual counselling to individuals in the Sutherland Shire as well as Sydney. We offer help to get a variety of problems including: relationship problems, substance abuse, anxiety, worry, despair and depression. Inspirit Psychology specialists in couples treatment in addition to teaching individuals the abilities needed to handle challenging health issues including obesity, cancer, and persistent pain.

What this means is that we just use treatments which are based on psychological theories that are nicely developed and have been subject to extensive scientific study to be able to set up their effectiveness. In addition, it means that we just use treatments where we've had expertise and fundamental and complex training. These strategies generally are shorter period and address the unique issues which are brought to treatment.

Geoff is a tenured university lecturer at the Australian Catholic University and an honorary research fellow at the University of Wollongong. He teaches a range of subjects related to the practice of psychology and counselling, including: basic counselling and psychotherapy skills, personality and abnormal personality, addictions and substance use disorders, motivation and professional communication, obesity and cancer care, religion and spirituality in mental health, and neuropsychology. This essentially means he teaches other people how to be psychologists and counsellors.
