trained as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, after an earlier career as a public sector economist. He had many years experience of working with children and families in a wide variety of clinical settings, while developing a special interest in Eating Disorders, including the setting up and direction of a major residential treatment centre for young people. Other interests have included research into evaluation of service effectiveness, and organisational development with senior NHS managers.

Prof Ricky J Richardson

Job Title:
Senior Consultant Paediatrician, who sees patients at The Child and Family Practice, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor. experienced general paediatrician, he also specialises in assessing and managing children with specific learning and behavioural challenges. Since joining the staff of GOSH in 1978, he now serves as a consultant paediatrician in the Department of Psychological Medicine where he supports the assessment service of children thought to have social and communication difficulties (autism, atypical autism, autistic spectrum disorder and Aspergers syndrome). He also conducts three-clinics per week in the International and Private Patients Unit at GOSH.
