Ms Helen Reed

Job Title:
Helen qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University with a BSc (hons) degree in Physiotherapy in 1996. She started her physiotherapy career working in the NHS at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, gaining experience in all aspects of physiotherapy. Helen then specialised in musculo-skeletal physiotherapy in 1999. The musculo-skeletal department at the Freeman Hospital has well respected orthopaedic surgeons who continue to refer their private patients to her at Physio+. Helen moved into the private sector full time in 2003, and founded Physio+ in 2007. She has continued to develop her specialist physiotherapy skills through post graduate training. Her particular areas of interest relate to rehabilitation of shoulder and knee injuries. Helen is also heavily involved in treatment and management of sports injuries. Helen was the physiotherapist for Northumberland County Rugby for over 10 years and has provided physiotherapy for Tynedale RFC, Morpeth RFC, Durham County Rugby, North of England Under 18 Rugby and Newcastle Vipers Ice Hockey team. She has now hung up her boots to spend more time with her young family.

Ms Cathryn Clark

Job Title:
Cathryn qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2001 graduating from Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh. She started her career at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and then moved to the University Hospital of North Durham in 2003 where she specialised in Musculo-skeletal Physiotherapy. In 2009 she moved to North Tyneside Hospital where she specialised in spinal problems and also worked within GP practices, before becoming full time here at Physio Plus. She has special interests in spinal problems, shoulder problems and sports injuries. Cathryn has completed post graduate courses, including a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine from The Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and a MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Musculoskeletal studies) from Teesside University. Cathryn has been involved in sports physio for many years and is currently Head Physiotherapist for Newcastle University Rugby Football Club. Cathryn was Head Physiotherapist for Northumberland County Rugby Union and has worked with Newcastle Falcons, Whitley Bay Rockcliff RFC, Morpeth RFC, Northern RFC and Gateshead Thunder.

Ms Kate Disley

Sports Massage Therapist Kate brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the team at Physio Plus. She has extensive soft tissue experience & has worked with sports teams and individual athletes at professional and amateur levels. After graduating in 2004 from Durham University, Kate continued her studies and qualified as a Sport and Remedial Massage Therapist in 2006. She holds a Level 4 Sports Massage Association (SMA) approved qualification and is a member of the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage (ISRM). She is qualified in Kinesio taping Level K1 & K2 and has recently undertaken her APPI Pilates Matwork Levels 1 & 2. Kate’s patient list is varied and she works with non-sports people as well as athletes. Some of her more regular customers include elite level gymnasts, triathletes and elite and club level runners. Kate is a passionate follower and player of rugby union and has previous representative honours for County, Regional, and England Youth squads. More recently she has been pursued by her patients to undertake her first (and maybe last) sprint triathlon.
