Elite Physiotherapist

Elite Football Physiotherapist for Perform at St George’s Park. Steve leads the rehabilitation of all elite athletes at Perform including the residential rehabilitation of professional footballers attending on the PFA scheme. Steve is also a physiotherapist for the Football Association assisting with all of the 24 England team when they attend St Georges Park and is one of the physiotherapists with the Senior England team and will be part of the medical team travelling to the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

Prior to working with Perform and the Football Association Steve was Head of Medical Services for Wolverhampton Wanderers, he has over 14 years’ experience as a physiotherapist working in a sports environment. He was worked extensively with football teams both in the UK and worldwide, including stints at Leeds United, Preston North End and Busan Icons in South Korea. He has additionally worked as a private physiotherapist with athletes from numerous sporting professions.

Steve has two first class degrees in both physiotherapy and Sport Rehabilitation, a Masters in the Science of Sports Injury and a Diploma in Manipulation. He is a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and is a Gold accredited member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACPSM). Mr Paul Williamson

Biography:
Graduated from Salford University with first class honours in BSc Physiotherapy; he also gained a distinction in MSc Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff University and holds a BSc honours degree in Exercise Physiology from Staffordshire University. Additionally he holds post graduate qualifications in spinal manual therapy and acupuncture.Prior to his education Paul competed for Great Britain for over 11 years in athletics (Pole-Vault). As a lottery funded athlete his achievements included five times British champion, World Student Games, nine European Championships and Commonwealth Games finalist. Clinically, Paul has worked in orthopaedics, musculoskeletal and sports injuries for over six years and has over two years clinical management experience. He has worked in both private sports practice and private hospital settings. His clinical interests are sports injuries, athlete screening, injury prevention and strength and conditioning.

Dr Charlotte Cowie

Biography:
Charlotte has most recently combined her role as Clinical Lead at the BUPA Musculo-skeletal Centre of Excellence in the Barbican, with that of National Governing Body Doctor for the GB Taekwondo squad. Over an impressive 20 year career in sports medicine Charlotte has also gained experience in numerous sports, tennis, athletics, synchronised swimming, boxing and cycling to name but a few, so brings a wide variety of skills and huge professional credibility to Perform at St.George’s Park. During 2012 Charlotte worked as part of Team GB at her third Olympic games.
