Mrs Elizabeth Smith

Job Title:
  Chief Executive
Specialisations:
  Physiotherapy
Languages:
  English
Biography:
I qualified in 1975 following at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge and subsequently practiced in the health service, initially at the Radcliffe Infirmary Oxford and later in Nottingham. I left the health service to run a GP referral clinic prior to setting up my own private practice in 1986. Initially, I was a sole practitioner but rapidly increasing patient numbers meant that I soon needed assistance of other chartered physiotherapists. The resulting team approach means that most patients are seen quickly and good holiday cover is available. I am a general musculoskeletal therapist with particular interest in the treatment of sacroiliac joints and shoulders. I believe in the preventative approach to physiotherapy - prevention being better than cure. After a patient`s particular problem has been treated, that patient is then taught exercises to carry out at home in order to reduce the risk of recurrence. I pride myself on treating a patient until I have done everything I feel is needed at that time. Although this sometimes has the unfortunate result of my running a few minutes late!
