Biography:
Richard is a qualified physiotherapist from Sydney University and member of both the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Australian Physiotherapy Association. He began an interest in Pilates in 1995 and in 1998 began official training in London to become the first physiotherapist to graduate from the Pilates Foundation UK two-year training programme. Richard served for several years on the Pilates Foundation UK's board, in charge of professional malpractice insurance, code of conduct development and trade mark protection. He also taught anatomy, neurology and biomechanics to the Pilates Foundation training courses and continues to maintain a close relationship with many Pilates teachers and students. Richard is a member of the Organisation for Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice (Physio First) and remains very active as a dance physiotherapist with the neoclassical ballet company, Ballet Black (Associate company of the Royal Opera House, London).

Annabelle Forde

Biography:
Senior Pilates and Gyrotonic teacher After qualifying as a full Pilates matwork and equipment teacher in 1998, Annabelle has accumulated a wide range of both experience and expertise in the field of teaching. Annabelle has taught in a variety of London Pilates studios, including established Pilates Foundation training centres. She has worked alongside both physiotherapists and osteopaths, gaining a full understanding of specific physical objectives and requirements. She has taught a variety of workshops for the Pilates Foundation and been invited to teach on various training courses. Annnabelle is also a fully qualified Gyrotonic(R) instructor and ran her own successful Pilates and Gyrotonic(R) studio in London. Annabelle is now looking forward to working as part of the Perfomance Physio team within the fully equipped Pilates and Gyrotonic(R) Studio. She will work alongside Richard Bolton and continue to draw upon her experience to create Pilates programmes tailored for the individual client.

Carl Smith

Biography:
MMSCP SRP (Ice Warrior) Senior Physiotherapist Carl has been involved in health and fitness many years and joined the Performance Physio team in 2004. Graduating with a Sports Science degree in 1993 he took on an active role in helping people to achieve their personal fitness goals through goal setting, fitness testing and one-to-one training. In 1998 he moved to London to further his studies. Graduating in 2001 with a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy he worked within the NHS and developed a broad knowledge base from a variety of disciplines including musculoskeletal injuries (peripheral & spinal), neurology, orthopaedics and respiratory. Additional training has since been completed in acupuncture, Pilates and soft tissue manipulation. In 2002 he gained further qualifications from the London College of Massage as a practitioner in therapeutic massage. He also works in the corporate sector and specialises in occupational health issues. Carl completed his first triathlon in 2002 and then went on to complete a half ironman the year later, hoping eventually to complete a full ironman. Through personal assessment, diagnosis and goal setting his dynamic approach has helped people to realise their physical potential and achievements.
