Mike Boyce

Biography:
Mike Boyce completed a 4-year degree course in Sports Rehabilitation and had his own practice in Ireland for five Years. He graduated with an MSc in Rehab Science from Brighton University in 2010. Mike is a registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists as well as being a member of the Health and Care Professions Council. His areas of interest include musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sporting injuries and rehabilitation.

Mike is a keen sportsman, enjoying a variety of sports such as racquetball, tennis, swimming, cycling and golf. He played racquetball for Ireland at the European championships and later travelled to the 2010 World Championships as their lead Physiotherapist. Mike’s involvement in a range of sports has given him a greater understanding of the nature of different injuries and the sport-specific rehabilitation required to achieve optimal results. Mike has carried out numerous postgraduate physiotherapy qualifications including additional courses on biomechanical analysis, orthotic prescription and gait analysis.

Mike is currently the lead Physiotherapist for the South East High Performance Tennis Centre which hosts the best young tennis players in the area from age 8 to 18. In 2013 Mike launched the Tennis Performance Management Scheme, uniting his physio services with the High Performance Tennis Team and the Strength and Conditioning Team to assess the players and work together on complete athlete performance and rehabilitation. Mike’s expertise was requested during Wimbledon 2012 and 2013 to support two young players with full physiotherapy care and treatment before and after matches, which was integral to their improved performance during the tournament.

Tom Goom

Biography:
Tom Goom is a chartered Physiotherapist with 11 years experience. He qualified from Oxford Brookes University in 2002 with a BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy. Since then he has gained a wealth of knowledge and skills working in a variety of clinics across the UK.

Tom has worked in semi-professional sport, lower-limb and spinal rehab. He is a keen runner and specialises in managing running injuries. He is the editor of running-physio which has gained a worldwide audience with over 150,000 views per month. Tom’s expertise in sport has resulted in him writing for Running Fitness Magazine, Men’s Running UK and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. He is currently researching rehabilitation of tendinopathy with world-renowned experts in the field.

om recently ran a chronic pain programme in Brighton, specialising in management of neck and back pain and he has an interest in managing long-term conditions such as, hypermobility, CRPS or chronic pain. He is a qualified acupuncturist and very much a “hands on” physio who values the importance of self-management and home exercise programmes.
