S57 Clinic

Heather is our fabulous Clinic Manager to Studio57clinic. Whilst supporting all of us at 57 using her great organisation skills whilst demonstrating untold amounts of patience, Heather keeps the clinics and appointment bookings working as smoothly as possible. Heathers favourite past times are spreadsheets, data entry, stock checks and customer relations. Should you call in to book an appointment, there's a 90 percent certainty that you'll be speaking with Heather. She's dynamic in every way and we're very happy to have her onboard.

Elle has worked as a clinical sports therapist for over 10 years specialising in injury rehabilitation, common

or 

postural imbalances, sports injuries, chronic back pains, hip, shoulder and neck problems either stress 

related or simply down to poor ergonomics.  Elle recently qualified in acupuncture and kinesology taping.

Elles first career as a professional dancer took her all over the world and pushed her body to it's limits.  Her love for injury rehabilitation stems from the knee injuries she sustained as a dancer.  Having trained to professional level in dance and gymnastics from a very early age, Elle gained huge experience in flexibility and postural training. She also coached gymnastics and trampolining to county level. This knowledge and understanding provided her with invaluable groundings and success in treating and rehabilitating young athletes from local schools and clubs.

Elle is running coach for Girlzrun and a running performance analyst with StrideUK. Girlzrun offers workshops and weekends for women, designed and delivered by Double Olympian and marathon runner Liz Yelling.  Elle works closely with local clubs includingBrighton and Hove Gymnastics club and Brighton and Hove Athletics club.  Elle also works with StrideUK.com as a Sports Performance Analyst using video gait analysis to observe running techniques frame by frame to improve performance & reduce injury. 

As a PTTLS qualified teacher Elle presents sports injury and nutritional lectures to running & triathlon clubs and also provides her services to large corporate companies including Virgin London Marathon. Oxfam, Legal & General and Brighton & Hove Council. She also works with pre & post natal clients treating and advising them back to health. 

Mitchell specialises in deep tissue therapy, injury & rehabilitation. He treats most common injuries whether sporting or non sporting and has a great understanding of treating & rehabilitating back pain, shoulder instabilities, knee, hip and ankle problems. Mitchells prime field is running bio-mechanics.  He is a running expert for Runners World and has a resident monthly column writing for Running Fitness Mag.  His running analysis company STRIDEUK has quickly become one of the most reputable Video Gait Analysis companies in the UK, working with runners and triathletes of all levels to help overcome persistent injuries and improve performance.

Mitchell has worked with world class distance runners including British Olympic runner Liz Yelling and world champion marathon and 200m paralympic athlete Richard Whitehead.

Philly has been practicing massage since 2008 after completing a certificate in therapeutic massage. 

Being a keen tennis player and runner, Philly recognises the importance of Sports Massage and how regular treatment can keep athletes performing at their top level by working to aid recovery, prevent injury and encourage their development. 

In December 2013 Philly attended a JEMS workshop to expand her skills to have a greater understanding of movement biomechanics and muscle function. She can now offer practical, easy-to-understand exercise programmes which can powerfully influence both performance and rehabilitation. 

Paul is an Axa, PPP, Aviva, Bupa Approved Physiotherapist. 

When not working at Studio57Clinic Paul works at Central Health Physiotherapy in London. Prior to this he worked at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation trust as a Band 7 Physiotherapist. During this time he was the clinical lead in lower limb rehabilitation managing and treating a wide variety of lower limb injuries. Paul has a specialist interest in lower limb injuries but in particular anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury rehabilitation and patellofemoral dysfunction / patella tendon pain (runners / jumpers knee)

Silvia is an HPC Registered Physiotherapist graduated at the University of Brighton. She has worked extensively in the NHS and private practice and is especially interested in modern modalities for the relief of acute and chronic pain. Silvia is a qualified Pilates Instructor and teaches one to one and group classes in Brighton and Hove. She has a particular interest in shoulder and neck injuries, and women's health including  pre and postnatal rehabilitation. Silvia is a member of the Physiotherapy Pain Association and is a fully qualified in Western Acupuncture.

Stephanie is a registered Osteopath who graduated from the British School of Osteopathy with a Bachelor of Osteopathy degree.  She then continued her studies over the next two years, completing a Masters Degree in Paediatric (children) Osteopathy.  This involved extensive time working at the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy in London gaining valuable experience under the guidance of the top paediatric osteopaths in the UK.   This also helped to fast track her cranial osteopathic skills.

Prior to training as an osteopath Stephanie completed a Sports Science degree and and Masters degree and worked with physiotherapists as a sports rehabilitation therapist.  She now combines her advanced manipulation skills with her cranial osteopathic skills to provide a bespoke treatment for each of her patients dependant on their problem.  Stephanie specialises in the treatment of Mums, pre and post natal; babies, especially birth trauma; children, for growth related problems and general injuries; adults for sports injuries and postural problems including back and neck pain ad much more.  Stephanie often has success with unusual problems where patients have had treatments from many different practitioners without success.

Georgie graduated 

from The University of Brighton with B.Sc (Hons) degree in Podiatric Medicine. She has been working both in multidisciplinary clinics and also with private patients. Her experience includes management, assessment and treatment of a range of different conditions and disorders including diabetes, Factor XII deficiency and Ichthyosis as well as ingrowing toenails, wound care management, musculoskeletal conditions and children complaining of heel pain.

As a keen runner and treating all that runs, Georgie has part of the medical teams at both the Brighton and London Marathon. She works closely with runners and athletes of all levels from 3 years old veteran and mature. If visiting Georgie, expect a high level of customer service warrped with a wealth of experience to help you back to foot health in as minimum time as possible.

also offers full body Video Gait Analysis to help rehab your injuries effectively, reduce the risk of re-injury and improve your running performance.

Matt's 90 minute 'Runner's MOT' is something all runners should consider if plagued by repeat injury or struggling to improve performance. He also runs our social running group Hove57RunCluB and givesMonthly Run Workshops. He is a regular presenter at training days for Brighton Half Marathon and Virgin London Marathon, and also one of the ambassadors for Run Brighton.

Persistent Pain Management

Modern pain science has changed many of the conceptions we have about pain and how to deal with it. Specialist sessions with Matt offer a combination of pain education & active movement therapy that you can can practice at home as well as in the 1:1 sessions. 

Jo Has worked in the fitness industry for over 14 years and first qualified in nutrition in 1998. After returning form South Africa she gained her qualification NCFE Level 4 Dip in Nutrition. Her fitness back ground leads her nicely into sports nutrition as she can talk from experience from running 10km, half marathons and marathon races

Jo has worked closely with renal unit patients who are waiting for kidney transplants, people with skin complaints such as psoriasis, eczema and acne and has spent time with new mum’s struggling to understand their body’s nutritional needs after giving birth which has lead to an interest in child nutrition. Jo is currently looking to expand her knowledge in both sports nutrition and child nutrition.

Nutrition the way nature intended – for Jo that’s what it is all about. There is no quick fix or short cuts to healthy living but Jo believes with knowledge, guidance and support you can put the fuel into your body that will positively influence your life and promote healthy growth and optimal functioning. Catherine qualified in traditional northern-style Thai massage in Chiang Mai in 2013. The school where she trained describes it as 'yoga for lazy people', and it does feel as if you've had a good stretch afterwards, and at the same time as being invigorating it is also relaxing. Catherine often blends it with sports and remedial massage, as there is a real cross-over in the two - they both combine massage that really works into the muscles, acupressure / trigger point work and assisted stretching techniques.

Catherine also does manual lymphatic drainage, Vodder Technique. This is another very effective form of therapy, and similarly to sports and remedial therapy, it is both increasingly backed up by positive scientific research and also good for all, not just the sporty! Manual lymphatic drainage is used for a number of reasons, including helping to clear water retention; oedemas; lactic acid build-up; immediately after operation or injury in order to reduce swelling and prevent the excess build-up of scar tissue; to prevent sinusitis and hayfever symptoms; headaches; digestion problems; and generally as a detoxing treatment. It happens to be a very gentle form of bodywork due to the necessarily light process of pumping the lymph along the lymph vessels, so it is a very relaxing treatment. (Please note that Catherinr is qualified to Level 1, so I cannot treat most types of lymphoedemas - please see the MLD UK website for a list of therapists who can). 

Catherine also writes for and helps to edit Massage World magazine, reviewing the latest research and books on bodywork and anatomy, courses and other news concerning the industry. 

Leanne has been in the sports therapy/sports massage world for 15 years, and has a particular interest in swimmers, runners, cyclists, and triathletes, having an understanding of what they put their bodies through! Having originally graduated as a nurse from the University of West of England, she spent many years travelling and working overseas before training as a Sport Therapist, influenced perhaps by her passion for running and triathlon. Leanne has completed 10 marathons to date, and has been racing in triathlons since 2003, at all distances from Sprint to Olympic to Ironman. She has recently qualified for the GB age group team for the European Championships in Geneva this year.

When not at Studio 57, Leanne works as a full time firefighter, and is also a coach at Brighton Triathlon Club.
