About Otto Physiotherapy

Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Michael Otto will be able to assess and suggest the best source of action to help you get back on the road to recovery.  He uses treatments such as massage, manipulations, acupuncture, pilates and Alexander technique.  This can be a one off visit for acute pain relief or longer term treatment plans for long standing or recurrent problems.

I was amazed by the result

Physical Therapy and massage

Desperate to avoid surgery as the only solution to repair a median level tear in the supraspinatus ligament in my right shoulder I searched the internet for a suitable physiotherapist in Exeter and by chance came upon Michael Otto’s details amongst a number of others. Somehow I was always drawn back his name and so made an appointment. I was not mistaken in my choice. Michael works in an unusual, intuitive and sensitive way and I was amazed by the results. Of course, he gave me exercises to do but they were gentle and easy to carry out. In combination with a cortisone injection guided into the right place using ultrasound under the NHS and Michael’s unravelling of numerous muscle knots in my back, shoulder and arm I have full use of my arm once again and am pain-free. Early on he assured me that surgery was not necessary. I am so glad I found him and then listened to him as well.

I am a specialist Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapist, with masters level training in orthopaedic medicine. My favoured approach is to provide hands-on treatment for instant results combined with therapies to improve posture and quality of movement to address the underlying causes. I have worked in a wide variety of settings, ranging from orthopaedic rehab in the NHS, to working with semi-professional runners and sportspeople, as well as in a clinic-based setting seeing a wide variety of patients with all kinds of different problems. My special interest areas are treating long-standing spinal conditions and treating runners with recurring injuries.
