Treatment for sore foot/ heel. Turned out to be tendonitis. Had ultra sound, calf massage and acupuncture. Excellent treatment and Kathryn took her time to explain all the treatment and what it would do/ feel like. Very approachable and would definitely recommend to a friend.

Knew about the clinic through other running friends. Really felt welcome and overall excellent visit. Thank you.

Job Title:
  Practice Therapist
Specialisations:
Exercise Medicine, Massage Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Physical Therapy, Sport and Exercise Science, Sports Medicine
Biography:

Having graduated from the University of Teesside with a BSc (hons) in Sports Therapy in 2004, Kathryn has worked as a Sport and Exercise Therapist since 2003 with various teams and organisations, also providing sports massage to various events throughout the North of England. She also holds a BSc (hons) in Sport and Exercise Science gained in 2001 from St Johns, York. I am a member of the Society of Sports Therapists and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
I started work with Carlisle Centurions RLFC while a student and continue this role today, having seen the team progress from a development team in the early days up to the National League and back down again. I then worked as the Sports Therapist for Workington Town RLFC during the 2004/05 seasons, also running specialist stretching, core stability and SAQ sessions during pre-season.

In 2008 I branched out into football, taking on the role of team manager for Penrith AFC Ladies Development team. The ladies play in the local Cumbrian league and act as a feeder for the main ladies team, progressing young players from U16 to open age. Through this I was offered a casual role of Sport Therapist to the Cumberland FA working with the U16 & U18 county squads when the first team physiotherapist was unavailable. Since the start of 2009/10 season I have held the role of Academy Sports Therapist at the Cumberland FAs Centre of Excellence, based at FrenchFields in Penrith, overseeing all Sports Therapy and rehabilitation for the elite young players of Cumbria ranging from U10-U16 age group. For the 2011/12 season I will be acting as the first team Sports Therapist for Carlisle City FC.

Outside of sport, I spent 5 years working as an Exercise Therapist at the National Rehabilitation Centre for the Fire Service, in this role I specialised in end-stage rehabilitation of Fire Fighters following injury and illness. Since February 2010 I have worked in the NHS as a Physiotherapy Technical Instructor, working across the rehabilitation units of both neuro-rehab and amputee outpatients.

I have always been very sporty, playing rugby for various teams, football and swimming for Carlisle. I now compete in open water swimming, 10km runs and both sprint and olympic distance triathlons.  In 2014 I became a run leader with DH Runners.  Currently I train regularly in the gym and do Zumba classes a few times a week to keep fit. I have also had my fair share of injuries so understand the frustrations that athletes face when unable to perform.
