Sports Massage

Sports Massage - Body Performance

The Term Sports Massage can be misconstrued for only being applicable for sportsmen/women, however, this deep form of tissue massage is designed at relieving stress, tension and fatigue that occur through occupational, recreational and sporting activities.

  • Sports massage can improve your quality of life by:
  • Easing tension in your shoulders from long office hours,
  • accelerates recovery from training
  • restores muscle balance
  • encourages muscles to take up oxygen and nutrients to promote healing
  • to release stress and tension and a sense of wellbeing
  • to reduce pain and increase flexibility.

Biography:

have a 10-year background in Sports Science from Fitness, Sports Massage Therapy, Health Screening and Health Club Management Prior to becoming a Chartered Physiotherapist. I have worked alongside the England Athletics Physiotherapy Team at the UK U23 and U20 Championship trials and also for MK Dons Academy. Most recently over the last 5 years I have worked in the NHS, a Physiotherapist for BMI Private Healthcare, a Wellness Health Advisor for Bupa and I now work in private practice.

My extensive experience has given me a particular interest in working with sports injuries. I place a strong emphasis on manual therapy, (hands on therapy) and exercise prescription and rehabilitation.

I have provided Physiotherapy at many events such as the Race for Life, MS Big Walk and the London Marathon. This year, I was very honoured to be a part of the London 2012 Olympics experience. I was accepted as a Sports Scientist to work with the Anti Doping Team at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis. I worked closely with the athletes and was based next door to the Sports Doctors, Physio’s and Sports Massage Therapist’s and this is most definitely a highlight in my career so far.
