Helping you have less pain, to move better and feel better is what I do!
So, how can I help you?
I'm a private practitioner, and most individuals who I work with are self pay clients.
Over 4 decades of experience as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (also qualified as a psychotherapist) a specialist in both neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Most of my neurological and MSK clients are adults, although I do work with sporty children who have bone related problems including pain and limited mobility and muscle weakness association with conditions such as chondromalacia and scoliosis.
In terms of neurological conditions, I work with individuals who have problems associated with a neurological condition like a Stroke, Brain Injury, MS, Parkinson's, or Post-Covid. That may include impaired mobility, unilateral weakness, low independence in activities of daily living (washing, dressing, cooking, working, climbing stairs, getting into and out of the car, safe walking and reduced distance walking), poor balance, poor co-ordination, trips and falls, fractures, low confidence and low mood. Sometimes they have been discharged from NHS support but they want to continue with physiotherapy for best improvement.
MSK problems, individuals book in may be after injury, sometimes severe life changing impact injury, fractures requiring surgery with extensive soft tissue loss, or perhaps pre and post-surgery which may include joint reconstruction, replacement. Or they may have soft tissue problems, scarring, ACL rupture and surgical repair etc. Usually they have reduced joint range, poor gait, reliance on a mobility aid, or need to be assessed for a mobility aid, in general all have poor conditioning, generalised muscle weakness are unable to work and want to be better as thoroughly and swiftly as possible.
I've specific experience and interest in rehabilitating individuals with persistent and chronic pain problems, including fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome, pain after failed surgery and I use modern neuroscience supported pain management approaches.
I'm sought out by solicitors and insurers because my rehabilitation and recovery plans are goal and outcome focussed with a high success rate, enabling individuals to resume high function and return as close as possible to pre-injury levels.
Some of my clients have been my clients for years and are now book in because they are showing signs of ageing, have chronic health problems, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, menopause related problems, heart and respiratory problems, generalised reduction mobility and increasing sedentariness.
Sometimes they have problems with IBS, Insomnia, or Anxiety and I have programmes to help with that
All my work is trauma informed, and the practical of my work involves communication, connection, education, nervous system regulation (Brain Training), movement training, functional strengthening, hands on lessons in Fractal Feldenkrais Somatics (body movement awareness), massage, manual therapy, sports massage and the psychological approaches.
