Barry Ryan - Clinic Lead, BSc MISCP MISORM CORU Registered
Barry is an experienced Chartered Physiotherapist and member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) and CORU. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, achieving First Class Honours, at Teesside University England in 2009. Prior to this he studied Applied Physiology & Health Science from the Institute of Technology Carlow. Barry also holds a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine, and is an Accredited Practitioner of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic & Rheumatological Medicine.
Barry has eight years Physiotherapy experience across private practice, musculoskeletal outpatients, team sports, and general rehabilitation. He has undertaken extensive postgraduate-level training in Neurokinetic Therapy Level 1 & 2, Manipulative Therapy, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, Dry Needling, APPI Pilates, Advanced Clinical Gait Analysis and Functional Injury Rehabilitation. He has also attended courses in Sports Taping, Orthotic Prescription, Kinesio Taping, Dynamic Taping and Office Ergonomics Assessment. Barry previously held the position of Head Physiotherapist to the Laois Mens Senior Football Team (2013-2015). During this time he led a backroom team of Strength & Conditioning coaches, Sports Rehabilitation Therapists, and Team Doctor. Barry places a strong emphasis on a hands-on approach to injury recovery, utilizing a range of muscle, fascia and joint techniques to help gain immediate and significant improvements in pain levels and functional ability, and ultimately an accelerated rate of healing and recovery.
Outside of work Barry continues to play senior football for Killeshin GAA in County Laois. He is also a keen road runner and competes in half and full distance marathon events. Most recently in June 2018, he completed the Cork City, Wexford, and StoneMad marathon events in 13 days.
