Eoin O Conaire at Evidence-Based Therapy Centre

After completing a BA in Psychology in 1997 at the National University of Ireland, Galway, Róisín went to the UK to gain experience in Clinical Psychology.  She worked as an Assistant Psychologist in a number of specialities including children and families, where she worked with children and adolescents at risk of school exclusion due to behavioural and emotional problems and in an older adult team, where she worked with people with cognitive and emotional difficulties.  She also worked for two years with people with traumatic brain injuries, first as a rehabilitation assistant in a brain injury rehabilitation unit and then as an Assistant Psychologist in the Royal Hospital for Neurodisability, London.

Róisín completed a three year doctoral training at the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology, Oxford University, where she specialised in adult mental health psychology. Since finishing her doctorate in 2005, she has completed a range of additional specialist training including Schema Therapy (a treatment approach for complex difficulties), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving (STEPPS) both of which are evidence-based treatments for borderline personality disorder.
