Ruth Whelan is the Allied Therapy Manager in UPMC Beacon Hospital. She graduated from University College Dublin with an honours degree in 2000 and also received a first class Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from University College Dublin in 2005. Ruth worked for six years in St. Vincent’s University Hospital. During this time, she was Senior in both Musculoskeletal Outpatients and in clinical education and also lectured in Orthopaedics on the undergraduate programme for University College Dublin.

In 2007, Ruth successfully completed the Stott Pilates Instructors course and more recently in 2008 obtained further professional qualification in acupuncture. Ruth enjoys leading a dynamic team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists.

Aileen Flynn is the Clinical Specialist in Musculoskeletal Care in UPMC Beacon Hospital. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1999 with honours and received a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from UCD in 2005. She has 11 years of experience working in a variety of areas ranging from orthopaedics, neurosurgical rehab, rheumatology, and acute accident and emergency caseloads. Aileens areas of interest are shoulder rehabilitation and biomechanics. She has worked closely with elite sports teams throughout her years spent as the team physiotherapist to the UCD rugby 1st XV and her work in private practice with the Irish U19 Rugby team. She leads a very progressive and dynamic physiotherapy outpatient service.

Aileen has recently developed skills in the area of acupuncture, Pilates and biomechanical gait scan analysis which she incorporates into her patient care in the UPMC Beacon Hospital. She is a keen Triathlete and has first hand experience in best methods of injury prevention in this highly demanding sport.

Sinead Moffatt is a Senior Physiotherapist in Orthopaedic Outpatients at the UPMC Beacon Hospital. She graduated from the Robert Gordon University in Scotland in 2000 with a first class honors degree. Since graduating, Sinead has completed a certificate in Manual Therapy in Perth, Australia (2004), graduated as a Stott Pilates Instructor (2004) and qualified to practice acupuncture (2010). In 2009, Sinead completed a Masters in Manual Therapy (Manipulation) with the University of Western Australia and was awarded a higher distinction grade.

Sinead has worked exclusively in the area of sports and musculoskeletal injuries for the past eight years. During this time Sinead has worked with numerous sports teams including; Rugby (Scottish U19s), Gaelic football (County and Club level) and Hockey (Provincial). She is a keen Triathlete and is also member of the Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine having worked as head Physiotherapist for the Dublin Marathon from 2004 - 2010.
