Merrion Foot Clinic

Merrion Foot Clinic, 23 Seafield Road, Blackrock, Dublin 4
Rating from 8 Reviews Very pleased with treatmentKevin, US, 28 May 15

My 92 year old father has been there twice in the past year and is very pleased with his treatment at the very capable hands of Joe Egan. Mr.Egan has removed obvious corns that other foot clinics cannot even find. My father now refuses to go to any other chiropodist and is happy to travel across the city to Blackrock to attend the Merrion Foot Clinic. We chose this clinic because of its excellent reputation and have continued going there because it delivers very good results. My father, who has had some experience in visiting multiple chiropodists, regards the Merrion Foot Clinic as a cut above the others.

We specialize in musculoskeletal pain with a particular interest in back/neck/shoulder/hip and pelvis. We guarantee a highly individualized approach resulting from and indepth and thorough assessment on your first visit. We also incorporate yoga and craniosacral therapy where appropriate. This applies particularly to conditions such as chronic pain and whiplash where the muscular and nervous systems tend to highly sensitized. We also use many traditional physiotherapy techniques including dry needling and myofascial release.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a great way to quickly reduce tension in specific muscles. Fantastic for sports injuries but also for those tight sore shoulders that result from stress or desk work.

Rathmines Chronic Pain & Sports Injury Clinic

Swan Leisure, Rathmines Road Lower, Rathmines, Dublin 6
Rating from 3 Reviews Felt greatShane, Dublin, 28 Apr 13

Very happy with this. It was nice and easy - quick reply to my enquiry, easy to sort an appointment and the treatment was great. It was a pre-marathon sports massage which was very effective - felt great afterwards and helped in the run up to the event. Will definitely be back.

Biomechanical assessment
Back Pain
Dry Needling involves multiple advances of a filament needle into the muscle in the region of a “Trigger Point’. The aim of Dry Needling is to achieve a local twitch response to release muscle tension and pain. Dry needling is an effective treatment for chronic pain of neuropathic origin with very few side effects. This technique is unequaled in finding and eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits. The needle used is very thin and most subjects do not even feel it penetrate the skin. A healthy muscle feels very little discomfort with insertion of this needle. However if the muscle is sensitive and shortened or has active trigger points within it, the subject will feel a sensation like a muscle cramp -‘the twitch response’. The patient also may feel a reproduction of “their” pain which is a helpful diagnostic indicator for the practitioner attempting to diagnose the cause of the patients symptoms. Patients soon learn to recognize and even welcome this sensation as it results in deactivating the trigger point, reducing pain and restoring normal length function to the involved muscle.
