MBBS FACSP Dr Donald Kuah portrait Dr Donald Kuah is an experienced sports physician specialist and one of the founding practitioners at Sydney Sports Medicine Centre in Olympic Park. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer to the Wests Tigers NRL team and is also on the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia medical panel. He was the NSW Institute of Sport Medical Director from 2000-2012, being responsible for the state’s top 700 elite athletes and remains involved with treating NSWIS athletes. He has previously been Consultant Sports Physician to AFL team GWS (2011-2012) and has previously been team doctor to the Sydney Kings basketball team (2000-2002). Dr Kuah was Deputy Medical Director for AOC London Olympics and part of the Medical Headquarters with previous Australian Team appointments in Athens and Beijing and Clinical Director of the Village Polyclinic working for SOCOG in Sydney. He has also previously been National Dr to the Australian weightlifting team as well as the Australian Men’s hockey team (1997-2008). For his services to sports medicine, the Commonwealth awarded the year 2000 Sports Medal to Dr Kuah. Dr Kuah is involved in teaching at many levels and also heavily involved in clinical research. His interest areas lie in treatment of tendon pathologies, osteoarthritis, hamstring origin pathologies and also in the area of regenerative medicine. He is currently on the medical Advisory Panel for the Australian Ski Patrol Association.

MBBS BSc(med) FACSP FFSEM (UK) FFSEM (Ire) Dr Ameer Ibrahim specialises in non-surgical treatments for Tendinopathies, Osteoarthritis and sporting injuries. He has a special interest in [Treatment name removed] therapy, [Treatment name removed] and ultrasound guided injections. Dr Ibrahim is a Sports and Exercise Physician who graduated from the UNSW in 1994. He has had over 15 years of sports medicine experience dealing with professional and elite athletes and teams across a number of different sports. Dr Ibrahim is a co-founder of Sydney Sportsmed Specialists and Sydney Sports Medicine Centre at Olympic Park. He has held posts with the Australian Socceroos, Olyroos and junior Australian soccer teams, was medical Director for the Parramatta Power Soccer Club for 5 seasons. He also travelled as team doctor with the Australian Cricket Team to Sri Lanka and was involved in Australia’s T20 matches. He also covered the Gold medal game at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He has been involved in the medical team of the Sydney Roosters Rugby league club for over 10 years. He is currently a FIFA sports medicine instructor for the Asian Football Confederation with involvement in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, 2010 World Cup in South Africa and 2014 world cup in Brazil. Dr Ibrahim completed his Part II Fellowship examinations for the ACSP in 2004 which included 4 years of full time training in sports medicine. He is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (Ireland) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (UK). Dr Ibrahim has published research into hip and groin injuries in professional soccer players. Dr Ibrahim’s keen interest in injury prevention, injury treatment and rehabilitation allows him to see patients from school aged children to elite athletes. He sees a wide variety of Workcover injuries and 2nd opinions for insurance companies and legal firms.
Dr Scott Burne - Doctor at Sydney Sports Medicine Centre

Biography:
Dr Scott Burne offers diagnostic and management advice at SSMC for sportspeople, active individuals and others who have exercise-related problems. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians (FACSP), for which he was awarded the College Medal for best performance in his final exams. He also holds a Masters of Sports Medicine (MSpMed) and Bachelor of Science. Dr Burne is currently the Team Doctor for Australian Women’s Basketball (Opals), a position he has held since 2003. Through this work he has been appointed Team Doctor for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2006 World Championships (Brazil) and 2004 & 2008 Olympic Games. He is also the current doctor for both the Australian Men's and Australian Women's Water Polo Teams. Dr Burne has worked in a wide variety of other sports, and is very experienced in dealing with sportspeople at all ages. Sports he has covered include NSW Rugby Union (state juniors, Sydney Grade and Colts), Australian Rugby League (Canberra Raiders, Wests Tigers), State Cricket and National Athletics. He worked for 14 years with the Australian Defence Force, including time treating aviators and divers, including their respective special medical issues. Dr Burne has a special interest in treating disorders of the ankle and knee. He has extensive experience with overuse injuries in the lower limb. He regularly performs compartment pressure testing at SSMC. Dr Burne has published articles in leading sports medicine journals on stress injuries in this region. Another special interest of Dr Burne is teaching. He is a Visiting Fellow of the UNSW Sports Medicine Programs, an internationally renowned post-graduate course for doctors. He is also actively involved in education via the Australasian College of Sports Physicians. Dr Burne encourages all individuals with sport and exercise-related problems to attend SSMC for a thorough, individual approach to their management.
