Cranial Osteopathy (45 mins)

It has become renowned for its treatment of infant colic and infant sleep problems, but it is also highly effective in the treatment of a broad spectrum of other childhood and adult conditions. These tend to fall into three categories:

Chronic or Developing Conditions Such As:

Face pain

Fibromyalgia

Headaches

Jaw (TMJ)

Migraine

Sinus pain

Some types of arthritic or rheumatic pain

Victims of Recent Violent Injuries (Deliberate or Accidental):

Car accidents

Falls

Sports injuries

Whiplash

Stress Sufferers.

This includes people who are physically and/or emotionally exhausted and suffering a whole range of stress related conditions, these can include physical pain from muscles and joints due to maintaining a "stress posture" and digestive problems, as well as:

Anxiety symptoms

Depression

Insomnia

Mood swings and feeling "run-down" or overwhelmed

Cranial osteopathy also helps to increase energy levels, improve the ability to relax, and benefits general health and well-being. It is also a fantastic way of helping women deal with the physical and emotional challenges of pregnancy.

Osteopath Consultation

Your initial consultation will take around 50 minutes.

Before your actual osteopathic treatment commences you will be asked some questions about yourself and your general health (both past & present), medical history including operations and illnesses, and any medications you are taking.

It is important that your osteopath can see and feel not only the area causing your problems, but also other areas of your body that may be related to your condition. Therefore, you will probably be asked to undress down to your underwear for examination and treatment. Please feel free to wear loose fitting shorts and a vest top if you will be more comfortable.

During the clinical examination you will be asked to perform certain simple movements so your osteopath can observe the effects of your condition. Further examination, such as blood pressure, reflexes, joint mobility and muscle strength may also be conducted. The experienced osteopath will then use a highly developed sense of touch, called palpation, to identify any points of weakness or excessive strain throughout the body.

Your osteopath will make a diagnosis which will be discussed with you, and then treatment is given, if appropriate.

How Do Osteopaths Treat Back Pain?
Using manual techniques, osteopaths examine the whole body to identify sources of pain and restricted movement that may indicate injury or impaired function.

Reducing muscle spasms
Restoring better mobility to the vertebrae of the back
Improving blood flow and lymphatic drainage
Promoting free movement of the entire musculo-skeletal system
An osteopath may also advise a patient on techniques for avoiding and relieving future episodes of back pain, including:
Proper posture
Exercise and stretching
