Mr Tom Cree

The principal Tom Cree qualified at the British School of Osteopathy in 1967 and worked in London with his own practice in Harrow. He moved to Harrogate in 1973 taking over the practice from Mr Roger Farrant initially as a sole practitioner but later taking on associates as the practice expanded.

Tom Cree uses both structural and cranial osteopathic techniques as well as using acupuncture. His forty three year career has given him a wide experience both of patients, their problems and the most effective approaches to treatment. He has always believed in working in close cooperation with GPs and other medical professionals allowing patients to get the best possible care. His daughter has continued this connection with the medical profession; both she and her husband are hospital registrars. As well as his work in Harrogate he has also contributed to osteopathic education both in this country and abroad for over twenty years.

Mr David Davies

David Davies has worked at Harrogate Osteopathic Clinic for twenty five years.  After completing an honours degree in zoology at Reading University, he then studied at the British School of Osteopathy for a further four years, qualifying in 1987.  Acupuncture became a valuable adjunct to his osteopathic approach following two years’ study of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture in London.  He often uses osteopathy and acupuncture in combination in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.

From the zoological perspective mammalian vertebrates have a remarkably similar body plan.  Each creature is adapted to function well in its own particular environment.  Humans are essentially hunter gatherers and adapted well for the bipedal gait.  Most of us are actually more sedentary than we should be and spend prolonged periods of time sitting.  Our cultural tendency to immobility is at the root of many postural problems that can lead to physical musculoskeletal pain.  Following treatment David will discuss postural and physical self management to help in the prevention of further episodes of physical discomfort.

Ms Catherine Edwards

Eileen qualified in 1986 from the British School of Osteopathy and has worked here since 1988. As well as using traditional osteopathic treatments, she specializes in cranial osteopathy and more particularly in the treatment of children. She began her paediatric work as a volunteer at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in 1992. When the Centre was able to offer post-graduate training she enrolled and became one of the first qualified paediatric osteopaths in 1999. One of the first graduates of the Osteopathic Centre for Children, she has become well known for this aspect of her work.
