About Drysdale Osteopathy

David Drysdale hasworked as an

Osteopath in the WestEnd of Glasgow

since 1996. Davidcombines a wide

range of techniques,ranging from

OsteopathicManipulation, Massage,

Trigger Point Therapy,Cranio-

Sacral Therapy,Nutrition and

Exercise.

Treatments are tailoredfor People. It is

understood that somepeople simply

do not like osteopathicmanipulation,

while others like DeepTissue

Massage, or benefitfrom Cranio-

Sacral Therapy.

There are differentways of treating

people who are in pain, and providing

the treatment thatworks for you is very

important.

Osteopathy is wellknown for treating

Headaches, Neck &Back Pain, but

many other conditionssuch as

migraines, frozen shoulderand

arthritis can allrespond well to good

Osteopathic treatment.

There are differenttypes of Back

Pain.

These range frommuscular stiffness,

bony/mechanical pain,deep muscle

spasm where anylaughing or

coughing is verypainful, to tooth ache/

nerve type pain that isintolerable.

Some times on wakeningthe back is

incredibly stiff,conversely it may feel

rested and pain free.

Back pain can ease orworsen through

the day. It may bebetter or worse for

activity.

It may only hurt whenstanding or it

may be pain free whenstanding.

There are differentcauses for a

Sore Back.

Different tissues willbe affected in

each individual case.It is important to

identify the affectedtissues, so the

correct treatment canbe given.

The idea that SpinalManipulation is a

“Cure All” for backpain is incorrect,

and on some occasionsit can actually

make the conditionworse.

The area that the backpain is

experienced is notalways where the

problem lies.

For example low backpain may have

its source in thethoracic area.

It is vital that allareas are examined

when you have a soreback, and the

affected tissuesidentified, and

correctly treated.

Once the likely factorsbehind the

back pain areidentified, Osteopathic

treatment may help easethe pain,

then good advice onexercise, diet,

seating, posture, bedsand lifting can

go a long way inhelping to prevent it's

recurrence.

5 50 Osteopath Consultation

Had serious nerve pain and other bad symptoms stiffness for 8-9 years look at scalene brachial
Plexus decompression.
Saw David and was worried but it went very well
And after a neck adjustment and trigger point therapymost of my right side nerve pain went away.
David then helped me address other pain areas with accupunture and improve my posture.
He has also given me helpful tips on how to proceed.

Very good. I've seen numerous physios and specialists and this helped me the most. It's not all
About the money and follow up appointments either. David is a good guy who really knows what he's doing.

Osteopath Consultation

Osteopath Consultation - Drysdale Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions, includingback pain, neck pain, migraine headaches, frozen shoulder, arthritis and whiplash injuries.

Osteopathy works with the structure and function of the body. Osteopathy is based on the principle that the well being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Physiotherapy

Posture Management

Conditions arising from bad posture can be helped with osteopathy, but in long term attention must be given to Ergonomics. A first rate chair is the first thing to be fitted. This should fit like a good pair of shoes, this chair should feel just right. The second thing is the desk, which should be fully height adjustable. A difference here of 30mm can make all the difference.A decent bluetooth keyboard and mouse that has the "Ball" on top, so the arm is tension free is essential. There are more modern systems such as Trackpads that are good.Companies such as Osmond Ergonomics can provide excellent products. If you use a computer for your job, it is well worth learning to touch type. This is so you do not have to watch your where your fingers are on the keyboard and your head is not constantly flexed forwards.People who drive long distances should think if their car seat and driving position gives them back or neck pain. If this is the case, consider changing your car for one that gives you a comfortable drive.David offers a service providing a full work station assessment in accordance with the DSE Regulations(1992).

Spinal Rehabilitation - Neck and Back Injury

Spinal Rehabilitation - Neck and Back Injury - Drysdale Osteopathy

The neck frequently causes pain. The neck supports the head, which weighs about 10 lbs. The head turns, nods back & forth and bends side to side. The muscles in the neck perform all these fine movements, and also holds the head in all sorts positions. When a vertebra in the neck is moved slightly out of position, small ligaments are over stretched and the muscles in the area then spasm to protect the neck. This is where osteopathic manipulation can put the vertebra into the correct position, and stop this painful muscle spasm.

Massage Therapy

£36 - £56

Massage

Massage compliments Osteopathy, and allows me to find the tissues that are causing you Pain.
Massage is relaxing and therapeutic and when combined with Spinal Manipulation will often help your Back or Neck Pain.

Chiropractic

Back Pain Treatment

I’m frequently asked the question “What is the difference between an Osteopath and a Chiropractor?”.
I some times wonder “What is the difference between two Osteopaths?”.Both Osteopathy and Chiropractic came into being in the USA in the 1880's.Both Chiropractic and Osteopathy use Spinal Manipulation. Both Professions have developed more subtle forms of treatment such as Applied Kinesiology (Chiro.), Cranio-Sacral Osteopathy and Visceral Manipulation (Osteo.).Currently, in the USA, Osteopaths are considered the same as Medical Doctors. They are very different to British Osteopaths, who still work in the traditional way, i.e. Hands on.Chiropractors in the USA work the same way as they do in the UK.Osteopaths train at one of 3 full time schools in and around London, doing a 4 year degree.Chiropractors train at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, doing a 5 year Degree. Both professions have overseas graduates working in the UK.Differences between these two Professions can be difficult to identify.I know members of both professions who see patients very frequently, having them pay large sums of money up front.I also know Chiropractors and Osteopaths who are very genuine, honest and caring people. Very knowledgeable and skilled in their professions.Interestingly, as I attend Courses, I find it pleasing to find I’m sharing my time with Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths and many other people in my line of work.Personally, if I were in Pain, and needed treatment, I would look for the best recommendation by “Word of Mouth” and not be too concerned whether they were a Chiropractor or an Osteopath.

Acupuncture

£36 - £56

Acupuncturist Consultation

Acupuncture is used to treat many conditions, especially Musculo-Skeletal Pain.
Conditions such as Back Pain, Sciatica, Neck Pain and Headaches can all respond well to correct treatment.

Holistic Health

CST - Craniosacral Therapy

CST - Craniosacral Therapy - Drysdale Osteopathy

Cranio Sacral treatments are profoundly relaxing, and where a person is under stress, it can be of great benefit. Treatment appears to affect the areas of the brain that react to stress. As these areas respond to treatment the muscles relax, blood pressure and heart rate lower and pain decreases.
