Dr David Downs

Biography:
Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Applied Science (Complimentary Medicine) with Distinction Master of Osteopathy with Distinction   Dr. David Downs has undertaken five years post graduate training at the RMIT University in Melbourne, and holds a Masters degree in Osteopathic Medicine.  He is a government registered osteopath and member of the Australian Osteopathic Association and Sports Medicine Australia.  David is also registered with Medicare, WorkCover Queensland and the Department of Veteran Affairs. This experience places him in a unique position to understand the conventional medical management of any given condition and benefits an osteopathic approach may add. David utilises a complete osteopathic approach to the body, not just focusing on the area of pain, rather looking at the whole body and its relationship to the area of dysfunction, in order to provide patients with long term solutions to their problems. His treatment often involves a range of techniques and patient education in order to achieve the best results. With three young children of his own David  also has an interest in treating both pre and post-pregnancy related conditions, babies and young children.

She uses a variety of hands-on therapy techniques including massage, stretching, joint articulation, trigger point release and manipulation when needed. Her approach places an emphasis on education, thereby ensuring long-term solutions to problems. Sarah uses a people-centered approach to healthcare that attempts to address not only the painful area, but the unique set of circumstances that contribute to the problem. Sarah has undertaken five years study at Unitec in New Zealand, and holds a Masters degree in Osteopathic Medicine. She joined the team at Your Osteopath, after ‘hopping the ditch’, saying she fell in love with “Brisbane’s sunny weather, optimistic residents and outdoor lifestyle.” Sarah continues to update her knowledge and skills with regular attendance at seminars and conferences. She has additional training in Paediatric Osteopathy and has recently completed a Pilates instructor course. She plans to attend further courses to add to her knowledge in this area. Sarah is fully registered with the National Osteopathic Board and is a member of the Australian Osteopathic Association.
