Mr John Smartt

Biography:
John Smartt has consulted in the areas of corporate learning and organisation development for 27 years. He is the director of Smartt Synthesis Pty Ltd. His consulting work focusses on looking at problems holistically to provide innovative solutions that are practical and elegant. He has led the learning and organisation develop functions within Australia for an insurance company, a media organisation, and an accounting partnership. John has developed a wide range of skills and interests, partly because he has wanted to, and partly because be believes that engaging as much of his brain as possible helps him to think more clearly, and thus be more effective, in every area where he operates. He has tertiary qualifications in theology, business and human health (osteopathy), he writes computer software (particularly complex systems for improving workplace efficiency) and he has written three published books (plus numerous articles) on leadership (“Managing Group Problem Solving and Decision Making” (co-authored); McGraw Hill; 1995; “Effective Ineptitude: The Secrets of Corporate Climbing”; Hale and Iremonger, 1998; and “Lead Work Teams”; McGraw Hill; 2003). John is passionate about productivity and effectiveness (which is how he still finds time to relax), helping people, and making a positive contribution to the world. John used his own process; the IMP; as the basis for setting and reviewing the direction of his own life. As a consequence, he now enjoys dividing his work time between further developing the IMP™, consulting, developing bespoke computer systems, and his practice as an osteopath. He recognises that he is kind of weird, and is learning to live with that.
