I was diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia. About six months ago it started to get worse and I was in serious pain doing my daily activities. After researching Prof. Fahri Erdogan for a long time I finally decided to consult him with my reports and files. International patient coordinator Mr Ege replied to me in an hour and collected the information they need to consult Dr Fahri. The next day Mr Ege got back to me with detailed explanations of Dr Fahri’s opinion, the injury and possible treatment processes. He sent me x-rays and videos of previous patients who had surgery for hip dysplasia. I knew Dr Fahri is known to be very successful in knee and hip replacement surgeries, but after seeing before-after videos of his patients I decided to book the trip and get the surgery performed by him. Mr Ege who spoke perfect English met us at the airport and was with us all the time. After meeting Dr Fahri in person for the physical examination I felt I am in safe hands due to his knowledge and confidence. His team arranged the treatment process as we spoke, and on my 3rd day in Istanbul, the surgery was performed. Dr Fahri and his team regularly visited me in the hospital during my 5-day stay. They helped me walk short distances. Even 1 day after the operation I was able to walk with a much better posture. They thought my physical therapy exercises and explained to me the healing period briefly. After resting 3 more days at the hotel Mr Ege dropped us to the airport for our flight back. It has been 5 months since the surgery and I can’t tell you how happy I am. I am able to walk with a much better posture and no pain at all. I used to avoid events that require physical activity before the surgery. Now I am basically able to do anything without help. I can take care of my daily jobs, join social gatherings and enjoy my days again. My pain is completely healed and my posture is much better, all thanks to Dr Fahri and his team, I strongly recommend Dr Fahri to anyone who needs a hip replacement surgery. Here is a layer of tissue,called fascia, under the skin of palm which helps to keep the skin from sliding around when we grip things. In some people, this tissue thickens and shrinks, and pulls on the skin and and on the fingers(figure 1 ). Dupuytren’s disease is observed usually in men over 40. Frequency is more in diabetic ones. Ring and small fingers are affected more. Any relationship between patient’s occupation and the disease is not proven. Swollen and bent fingers are seen in the examination. Extension is limited depending on the severity of the disease. Palmar noduls are typically painless. Sometimes it is confused with trigger finger at the early stages. Patients have serious difficulties in hand washing, hand shaking, wearing gloves etc…..  Progress rate changes from patient to patient. Existence of nodules is not an indication for surgery itself. Steroid injections on nodules may decrease the rate of progression in selected cases. If the angle between the affected finger and palm is equal or more than 70 degrees, surgery is considred. The affected part of the palm fascia and its extensions are removed. To be able to protect vital structures such as vessels, nerves and tendons is important. Sometimes skin grafts from other parts of the body may be needed. Wound care, massage, exercises and splinting is important to get the best result and prevent recurrence.

Ilizarov Technique

The Ilizarov’s surgical method for limb lengthening was developed by a Russian orthopedic surgeon, Gavriil Ilizarov and was first successfully applied in World War 2 and since has been in surgical practice, till today. It is an external only methodology for bone lengthening, whereby the bone is affixed with thin wires and hoops; with an external fixator or Ilizarov’s device. Although Ilizarov’s surgical methodology seems quite direct and simple, the result may sometimes be quite frustrating, if not performed by competent hands, thereafter, and the surgical method is not applied as per the expectations of the patients. It is important to note that were during the surgery or the post-op treatment, the medical team does not strictly comply with the principles laid down in Ilizarov’s methodology, and complications can arise, leading to gloomy outcomes for both, the patients and the medical teams involved. Regular care and maintenance of the device, its wires & screw; is crucial with this methodology, from the very beginning. As per the recommendations of the medical practitioner’s guidance patients must strictly care and sterilize the devices, its wires, and screws, daily; with 70% Pure Alcohol or a 10% Betadine solution, with sterile gauze. If the patient notices any indication of infections, such as redness, swelling and/or wound growth, around the device or its extensions, that they should immediately seek medical help from the surgical team who performed the surgery. The biggest problem with this method, apart from the strenuous daily regular care, is the chances of an infection, especially where sterilization is nor carried out daily; since the wounds are open and affixed with wires; the chances of infections increase. The problem is that if an infection does happen, during the lengthening phase; the infections become a priority; thus the lengthening process is halted till the time the infection subsides. 
Holy-Fix Method Limb Lengthening ₺435555 - ₺470399
The “Holy-Fix” Methodology – This is a fully external methodology for Limb or Leg Lengthening; whereby rod-alike external metal fixators are attached to each of the legs of the patients by means of pins affixed from the outside of the operated bones. During the lengthening stage, patients are required to turn screws on the device, simultaneously on both the treated legs, to achieve their daily distraction of 1mm per day. Currently, this is the most economical methodology practiced around the world; with the only disadvantage that the patients are stuck with the devices for a period between 9 to 12 months; meaning that they have to walk, sleep and live their daily lives with the devices attached to their treated legs. The biggest problem with this methodology is that that the devices cannot be removed in the consolidation and strengthening stages, or until the bones fully return to their pre-surgery density and integrity and are able to fully bear the patients weight. This consolidation period is obviously very long and uncomfortable for the patients and usually tends to test the patience of many patients and may cause them stress at the same time.
