Here is a layer of tissue,called fascia, under the skin of palm which helps to keep the skin from sliding around when we grip things. In some people, this tissue thickens and shrinks, and pulls on the skin and and on the fingers(figure 1 ). Dupuytren’s disease is observed usually in men over 40. Frequency is more in diabetic ones. Ring and small fingers are affected more. Any relationship between patient’s occupation and the disease is not proven. Swollen and bent fingers are seen in the examination. Extension is limited depending on the severity of the disease. Palmar noduls are typically painless. Sometimes it is confused with trigger finger at the early stages. Patients have serious difficulties in hand washing, hand shaking, wearing gloves etc…..  Progress rate changes from patient to patient. Existence of nodules is not an indication for surgery itself. Steroid injections on nodules may decrease the rate of progression in selected cases. If the angle between the affected finger and palm is equal or more than 70 degrees, surgery is considred. The affected part of the palm fascia and its extensions are removed. To be able to protect vital structures such as vessels, nerves and tendons is important. Sometimes skin grafts from other parts of the body may be needed. Wound care, massage, exercises and splinting is important to get the best result and prevent recurrence.

I went to see Professor Dr. LEVENT for orthopaedic Surgery on right shoulder and elbow. The surgery went really good without hardly any post-operative pain. I only needed Tylenol for the mild pain. The nurses were excellent, and although they don't speak much English they always did their best to communicate and make me feel at ease. They provided for translator and transportation as well. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone.

I had my hip replaced by Dr Fahri Erdogan in November 2018. The surgeon and his team were very experienced and confident. I was scared of the surgery for a long time, however after seeing similar patients Dr Fahri treated in the past I decided to get the operation done in hopes of leaving the pain behind. The clinic was very well established. They organised the treatment from the beginning to the end, and we didn’t have to spend time or energy on anything. Their medical tourism supervisor Ege spoke perfect English and he was with us all the time from the moment we arrived in Istanbul. We felt we were in good hands all the time. It’s been 6 months after the surgery and I am glad I had it. I used to sit at home all the time because of the pain. Now I go for short morning walks every day, can do my own grocery shopping and can join my friends outside the house. I would highly recommend Dr Fahri to anyone who needs a hip replacement surgery.
