Dr Jeff Ecker

Job Title:
  Chief Executive
Biography:
• Mr Ecker is a hand, wrist, elbow surgeon who is a specialist in the full range of hand conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon problems, hand and wrist injuries/trauma and microvascular surgery. His specialist interest is in the treatment of complex wrist problems including scaphoid fractures, fracture non-unions and wrist arthroscopy.

• Mr Ecker was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1985 (FRACS Orthopaedics). He trained in Orthopaedics, then decided to work out the mysteries of microsurgery and how it could be best applied to extremity surgery. In order to do this he completed one year Fellowships at Oxford University, United Kingdom; Duke University in North Carolina and University of South California, Los Angeles in Plastic and Microvascular Surgery.

• Many hand injuries do not require surgery and often will achieve a better outcome with conservative (non-operative) treatment. Mr Ecker works with excellent hand therapists who are expert in splintage, exercise and stretching programmes, ultrasound treatment and other non-invasive techniques.

• Mr Ecker is regularly invited as a Guest Speaker at International Hand and Wrist Meetings. He is also on the Board of the Australian Hand Surgery Society and is the President of the West Australian Hand Surgery Society.
