Charlestown Practice

Growing up in the country in New South Wales, Dr Peter Vaughan attended Hurlstone Agricultural College in his schooling years, before moving to Sydney to pursue a career as an orthodontist. Studying at the University of Sydney, Dr Vaughan completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, after which he served 8 years in the RAAF as a general dentist. Upon leaving the RAAF, he progressing into studying a Masters of Dental Science, specialising in orthodontics. 

Dr Vaughan initially moved to Newcastle to join another orthodontic practice but was unhappy with the procedures at that practice and consequently opened a solo practice where he has greater control over quality and patient care.

Dr Kim Yoshinaga first came to this practice as a patient whilst attending school in Newcastle. Kim went on to complete a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Sydney University, and upon completion returned to work in Newcastle. While working as a general dentist in Newcastle, Dr Yoshinaga expressed an interest in becoming a Specialist Orthodontist. In order to gain knowledge and experience, Dr Yoshinaga commenced work at this practice in 1996. Since then, Dr Yoshinaga took time away from her family to attend the University of Queensland, undertaking studies in specialist orthodontics with the intention of gaining her Specialist Orthodontist registration. Unfortunately, family commitments made the university studies too difficult and Dr Yoshinaga returned to Newcastle and was welcomed back to work in this practice. As a General Dentist Dr Yoshinaga is permitted to undertake all orthodontic procedures.
