Dr Ken Johnston

Dr Ken Johnston has a keen interest in myofascial and stem cell therapy used to treat chronic pain. Ken is a Queensland graduate with 30 years’ experience and postgraduate qualifications in Sports Medicine and Clinical Nutrition. Ken has been working in the field of pain and injury management for 20 years and has been involved in both hands on treatment – myofascial therapy (a needling technique) and more recently extensive operative experience as part of a spine surgery team. He has also been involved with the nutritional management of pain and its metabolic consequences in sporting and non-sporting problems. While treating sports injuries Ken has been involved with highly professional individuals and teams at both a national and international level from Rugby Union through to athletics and swimming. Ken has also been teaching predominantly about the biochemical effects of chronic pain and its effect on our hormones and stress system, which he immensely enjoys. Ken has followed the development of stem cell therapy with interest over the past two years. Ken is also interested in expanding uses for stem cell therapy and how it may be applied not only within the fields that he has been involved with, namely injury and degenerative joint problems, but also the much broader applications across many disciplines. Ken’s passions outside the office involve scuba-diving and underwater photography. A country boy at heart, Ken loves the outdoors and exploring the Australian bush.
