Miranda

Dr Miranda Bassilios

Biography:
Received her undergraduate degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia and her Masters in Physicians Assistant from the Finch University and Chicago Medical School. Before receiving her degree, Miranda practiced Internal Medicine for five years. Miranda loves working in Obstetrics and Gynecology because it gives her the opportunity to play an essential role in women’s lives. She says she enjoys assisting her patients whether they want to avoid pregnancy, conceive, caring for them through their pregnancy, and seeing their newborn babies. And she delights in helping her patients go through it all over again! She also likes helping teenagers and young adult women choose the best contraceptive method that is appropriate for them. She describes the pros and cons between barrier methods, oral contraceptives, vaginal ring, patch, Depo shot, IUD’s. Her background in internal medicine, allows her to give patients a comprehensive physical during their annual visit.
Ed

Dr Ed Blumenstock

Biography:
Graduated from the University of California in San Francisco and completed medical school and his residency also at U.C.S.F. Dr. Blumenstock also has a Master’s in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was involved in research in Czechoslovakia and Israel. His clinical interests include operative laparoscopy, hysteroscopy (allowing major operations to be done in a minimally invasive way) and urogynecology, which deals with problems of pelvic support and incontinence.Ed’s interests have changed over the years but some things remain constant. He enjoys people, all kinds of people. He finally chose OB/GYN as a specialty, because, for the most part, he gets to deal with positive outcomes. Childbirth is such an “up” experience for all involved. Gynecologic surgery also tends to fix things which result in better, more comfortable living. As he has aged (he would like to say “gained in experience”) he does less obstetrics and more gynecology and uro gynecologic surgery with emphasis on minimally invasive techniques. Another big plus about the Ob/Gyn specialty, according to Dr. Blumenstock, is that it is transportable. Beginning in 1999, Dr. Blumenstock began taking off 3 to 4 months a year to travel and do volunteer work in developing countries. He believes his volunteer work internationally provides a great entree into people’s lives and other cultures, even if briefly, and he points out “it’s much more fun than museums!”
Elizabeth

Dr Elizabeth Sivesind

Biography:
Graduated from the MEDEX Physician Assistant Program (USC and UCLA) and went to work in an innovative Family Practice model at Kaiser, southern California. Later, she worked 8 years in a complementary/alternative medical practice in Mill Valley. She went on to work as lead clinician at Planned Parenthood Antioch and Concord, helping develop their prenatal program, and served as preceptor to the UCSF Nurse Practitioner/Midwifery Program, and was a Colposcopy instructor. She worked in an ObGyn solo practice for many years before joining Ob-Gyn Partners. She has a B.A. in psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, and an M.S. in Health Sciences from San Francisco State University. She spent a year traveling around the world, including a month in Egypt, and 4 months in India and Nepal studying yoga and healing.Liz’s interests include people, reading, walking, cooking, travel, animals, and spending time with her large family. She speaks French and a little Spanish. "I love my job. It's interesting, challenging, and satisfying. I get to use my brain, my body, my heart and my spirit. I have been drawn to health and healing since I was a little girl concerned about my mother who suffered from health problems, and wanting her to feel better. I'm grateful for the chance to work in health care."
